Tangilope Hydro Grow

I'm adding this to the hydro section instead of the grow journal section because it seems the grow journal section is often over looked. Since tangilope is a fairly new strain, I'd like the curious people to follow.

1000w
Ebb n grow
25 gallon res
Dyna-gro nutes
9 or 12 buckets 2 gallons
Carbon Filter
Air-cooled hood
Other stuff
Scrog? Maybe.

Tangilope is up next on the agenda. The seed is about a 6 weeks in to veg. There's 11 or 12 tops, I topped it a couple times. It's had a rough start. It started out as a mutant seedling and also had some sort of deficiency, but it is now growing nice. This should be an interesting grow, hopefully it turns out good.

This grow won't be started until next month because I have to disinfect the grow tent and clean the ebb system and hydroton rocks ect. It will be in a 5x5 tent with a air cooled hood. I am also doing some cheap upgrades I will be cutting a piece of reflective insulated board to fit the tent. This will sit on top of the ebb buckets to provide a more productive light reflection and keep the root zone cooler.

I also have yet to take clones. I still need to buy an expansion kit for the ebb system because I only have 6 buckets at the moment.

I will be using a bubble cloner for clones.

Follow along if tangilope interests you and stay tuned for updates. Catch yall later.
...
I salvaged about half of the hydroton from my last run. What a pain to get the roots out, ugh. 1/2 of the equipment is cleaned and sterilized. Still have some more cleaning to do.

Got alot done today. I rearranged the filter to run parallel with the light, I should be able to cut down on ducting running it this way. . All of tthe equipment is cleaned. Should be able to take clones soon.

Cool!! Can't wait to see these mature! Just one thing, how are you cleaning the hydroton? I cut the bottom out of a 5 gallon pail and added a 1/4" mesh to it. Just shake balls from root mass, put em in pail and use high pressure wash to clean em. Would suck if I couldnt do it on my lawn though!! Does one plant have a deficiency of some sort?

Thanks for stopping in! I use one of the 2gal on net pots for the hydroton, I have a big wash sink in the laundry room and I let the water from the faucet run for a while, most of the hydroton comes right out but 2 plants had some gnarly roots that like swallowed a 1/2 gallon of the hydroton, it was so hard to separate so I threw it out. I really wish I had a pressure washer, that would make life soooo much easier! Matter of fact, I just might get one next time, cleaning the hydroton is my least favorite duty for the entire grow lol.

All of my new plants except my purple paralysis had some sort of zinc deficiency I think. They all had that wild yellowing on the sides of the leaf and I think my soil went bad and had a very high pH locking out nutes. After I repotted them in new soil they rebounded and look great after 10 days. I haven't repotted my agent Orange yet (the plant in the middle and that one is still showing deficiency, I've been debating whether to keep it or give it to a friend, so it's not had alot of attention lately. The rest of the pictures are of the tangilope from seedling to now. The tangilope has went to hell and back, it started growing with no top growing shoots, just 2 mutated leaves that fused together, then a growing shoot starting growing out of a random spot on the main stem. Now it's a bush! I almost wasn't going to grow it because I didn't know if it'd be worth it, but it's definitely doing much better now

Thanks for stopping in Aero! How was the stretch on yours? I'm hoping it will be some what manageable, but if not, I have the Scrog net to train with, but I was hoping it wouldn't be to lanky. Are there any different
phenos that you know of? The info out there on tangilope is limited, I can't find too much about the strain at all.. So any info that would help would be greatly appreciated :)

Alls I know of that strain is from the one freebie seed I rocked. Yeah, it was stretchy, but manageable;-)
I ended yielding almost 5 zips. It was one of 9 plants under a 1000w in a 4X4. Massive yielder bro. Good shit to, It just not my thing(the tangie/orange flavor)
It went 10 weeks. I posted a pic @ about 8 weeks, on this thread:

****edit: It's your thread^^^^^
Remember me now:D

I hope yours ends up like mine did;-)

Ahh!! Lol! I COMPLETELY forgot about that thread! Wow, I just had a major flash back, it's all coming back to me now lol. I thought we had a Convo about it but then I couldn't find that thread so I was questioning if I even asked anyone about it, smoke another one alpha smh lol

Now I remember that was the reason I went with the tangilope, it was because of those massive colas you had on that thread, damn 5 oz would be awesome! I can handle a 10 weeker, it's those 12 + week strains that I wish I had the patience for. There's so many sativas I miss out on because I don't have the time or space for them :(

I decided to take clones today so I can get the ball rolling. I took 9 clones and will be using 9 ebb buckets. (hoping all 9 clones stay healthy and root.) haven't lost a clone in a very long time but I've never had a hard to clone plant either. Here's to hoping this girl is easy (lol)

Clones were cut at a 45 degree angle, lower parts of stem was scarred, leaves trimmed. Then into the bubble cloner with tap water and 1/3 tsp if rapid root. I've never used rapid root before clones have roots, but since I have extra I'm hoping it has positive benefits on new cuttings.

Very impressed with how fast the tangilope mom recovered after mutilation from taking clones.

I took 9 clones to start, but one of the clones went limp. After I investigated, I realized the stem was not in the water. So I took one more clone just in case. After a few hours, the limp clone was standing tall once again. So now I have 10 clones in case I make another snafu.

The clones have started to root. 6.5 days from cutting.

Tangilope is a very easy and hardy plant to clone. No color loss or stress at all.

So far I'm liking this mutant tangilope.

Since the roots are starting to grow, I have pHed the water to 5.6 and I have moved the cloner directly under the floro light @ about 15" above the tops.

Well 7/10 cuts have solid roots forming. One cut has root bumps. One cup got a mushy stem and one cut hasn't had any progress. I don't know what's up with the one that got a mushy stem. That hasn't happened to me in a while. Maybe I cut it wrong? I recut the stem because the top is looking fine, hoping I caught the problem early and saved it. I need 9 clones, so far only 8 look like they will be fine.

What can cause a mushy stem besides heat of the water ? Can a non constant bubble supply, ie. A area of water that isn't aerated enough, cause that, or most likely I cut the clone stem wrong?I dunno. I hope I get 2 more to throw roots or I won't be able to do the 9 plant grow *sigh*

Oh well, I'll hope for 9 and have to settle for 7 if need be.

So it's been a rough cloning session. The Temps are way to damn hot in nor cal to use a bubble cloner with out a chiller. I recut all the stems because a few had mush on them. I sanitized everything. Then lost 3 more that I threw out today. (I took a few extra because I knew after a week of slow progress something was going wrong). I have 9 left , one rooted and a few others have root bumps. Today I figured out how to cool the water because I don't have a chiller. I put the cloner in a tote with ice water in the tote. Problem solved. If the rest of these clones don't have any unnoticed rot problems I should have some roots by Tuesday at the 3 week mark. If I thought of this tote cooling method in the first place I'd be flowering by now :wall: My flower tent is ready tto go aand I made a little veg closet. Let's hope for the best. If they ddon't root by Tuesday @ 3 weeks I'lltake new cuts and start over.

It really makes me sad to see that empty tent:-(
Hurry up man! Lol
Dude.....I flowered one more cut from that tangilope I have. Holy shit! I'm loving it even more now. It's sooooooo massive. Most of my buddies love it. I just still can't fall in love with the flavor though. Its so tangie smelling and tasting, it's kind of gross to me. But, I might just have to fire up a few lights with it :bigjoint: I don't know If I can just wait until next outdoor, to grow it again.(like I was planning)
Anyways, I hope your clones take. Good luck!
Have you read this thread?

Even though I don't use an aero cloner, might I recommend you use something like that^^^^

Great thread Aero, I've just recently heard about the bennie teas for the cloner, but the pond zyme is new to me, which would you recommend? I prefer a sterile res, so the pondzyme sounds great. I think the environment definitely plays a role in the slime like mentioned in the thread, I never had problems in NY and now my 3rd grow in CA and bam, 6 cclones with rotten stems. Grrrrr

It makes me sad to see the tent empty too :( at this rate, I could clone my seedlings by the time I get roots lol. Hopefully they root soon and I can try out my new DWC veg tote I'm building.

That's so awesome you're gonna do another run with your tangilope, makes me more excited to flower mine! I like the way it grows, it loves being topped too.

I hear ya with the tangi taste, at first my gf liked it, but now she says the smell of my agent Orange makes her want to puke lol, it's too sour for her or something, I really don't have a preference because I really like the high of it, but I do like a skunky bud usually. All I have now is Larry og which is lemony and agent Orange which is citrusy. Feels like I've been smoking fruit all month lol

Here's my tangilope mother plant, she's ready to clone already, so if these clones don't make it, I'll sterilize everything again and try the pondzyme stuff I think

Tangilope is next to the Blue tote, purple paralysis is the other ppic, sshe's also lookin nice

I don't do dwc or aero anymore. Wish I could help you with that ?. When I was though, I ended up using h202 and hygrozyme(those two are compatible). But, just an FYI, I'm pretty sure pondzyme or "real" enzyme products in general, are not compatible with h202. But most importantly, IMO, I did what it took to keep my reservoir temps at around 69F.
Sorry, I have never messed around with an aero cloner, or the bennie teas. I'm a little out of date on that:D
Like I said, wish I could help.

It's OK Aero, the link you gave me has enough info in it to solve my problem for sure. So thanks for that! I'm just glad the clones are still green, they're hanging in there. It's been 5 days since I recut the stems and I got a root so I'm kind of hopeful, will definitely watch the water Temps from here on out :hump:

I title tthe pictures as "The Little Root That Could"

Still not much progress.. Really slow rooting. Pretty much all have root bumps except one or two now. No slime. I'm pretty frustrated with these cuttings, maybe they've just been through too much stress to root. Today I will be making a new bubble cloner and taking cuts of purple paralysis. Which ever ones root first will be flowered first, so tangilope may have to wait.

I've never seen cuttings @ 25 days look so healthy and have no roots, if they didn't look good I'd have thrown these out weeks ago
