Carbon filter in bottom of tent?

recently I built a soundproof box for my inline fan that works like a charm. The drawback is that now its too heavy to hang from the poles in my tent can I leave the fan attached to the carbon filter at the bottom of my tent? I know that hot air rises but in regards to smell will my 435 cfm fan be able to suck up all the smelly air from the bottom?

My set up is Carbon filter -> fan inside box -> cool tube -> exhaust

i have had mine setup on a milk crate on the floor before..no problems.

dont ask why i even had it elevated other then my own reasoning for better airflow if it was up off the ground some.

If the tent is air tight with a negative pressure inside, there shouldn't be any odors escaping, no matter where you put the filter if the fan is running. The reason it is elevated is for the temp difference, as you mentioned, so you closet may be a bit warmer with it on the bottom, but not by much. you can tilt the a fan up to circulate the warmer top air better.
If your fan has off stages, the odor may linger out through the intakes.

Even though you'll still have your negative pressure for dealing with the stinky-stinky issue, you might end up with a heat issue, BIGTIME, by sucking your exhaust from floor. It's not going to be efficient at all, and tents are very confined spaces. Easy to have heat problems.
If you got the room up high in the tent, do it! I would put it there. One way to carry the weight: Put a sheet of 3/4" ply on top of tent. Then thru bolt some eye-bolts up through tent ceiling, and into plywood. Then strap that creation you made up

Another reason to put the filter near the top is SPACE.
in a small grow area, that space could be used for a plant, instead of a filter down there.
