One reason I chose to use AN sensi grow/bloom A&B nutes when I decided to use some nutes to supplement my soil is that with filtered water it supposedly controls ph. People trash it and complain about the price but I use so little it makes no difference to me. I use it as a supplement to my soil mix, It cost me maybe $10-$15/run in nutes, if it helps with the ph control (not sure really?) it's not like it's going to break the bank and saves me chasing ph. Other than in hydro of course I think chasing ph in soil is a make-work program. Adding molasses could affect it as it's high in several elements, perhaps enough to change it.

Yeah a lot of ppl frown on AN but I think a couple of their products are decent. They just take everything and break it into pieces to squeeze every dollar out of us. AN: "Oh you want a cal+mag product? Well here's a separate bottle of calcium and a separate bottle of magnesium", "Oh you want bigger buds? Here's a bottle of diluted molasses, and here's another bottle of diluted molasses. If you mix them both you'll have almost full strength molasses!" lol. I'm going to try and simplify my feeding regime next time through but I think I'll keep using their 'Sensizym' product

Too easy to get carried away with all these products...especially when you hardly know whats what (>me<)...now i've got silica blast, sensizym, root juice, molasses, general nutes, bloom nutes and cal/mag and probably don't need any of it lol. Now that I think of it I'm probably doing double molasses because most likely the root juice has molasses in it -.- fml what happened to dirt, water and light :wall:

Yeah true, if you get caught up in the nute marketing hype, they're about the best (worst?) at it. Whatever, we're growing fucking weeds, unless you're in hydro, anything, including probably MG will work to supplement a good soil mix. Spending hundreds per run on nutes and supplements is another make work program imo, make work for AN and other nute (marketing?) companies that is...

Maybe skip the cal/mag till you get the meters Thursday. Personally I don't use molasses very much anymore but when I did I don't remember it changing pH much. Did you put any dolomite lime in your soil or did it come mixed in? If so I really wouldn't trip because it will buffer the pH as well.

Think I'm gonna try the calmag on one of them and not the others and see what happens. First time growing so it won't hurt to play around a little. Worst case scenario I'll be done to 4 plants haha... (those 4 would be a lot happier with the extra room too)

The mix is - Fir Bark Fines, Forest Humus, Peat Moss, Perlite, Worm Castings, Bat Guano, Kelp Meal, Seaweed Extract, Aloe Vera, Yucca Extract, and Oyster Shell & Dolomite Lime plus compost from my moms garden, some additional perlite mixed in and also a layer of perlite at the bottom and top of the mix for drainage / prevent fungas gnats

I love this statement. I am an experimentation fanatic. This is how we learn what works and what don't. I get mexi brick seeds from a guy I know and fuck with them constantly just to see what happens. You would not believe the torture this Marine can inflict upon a plant I don't care about.

I honestly don't know jack shit about soil mixes, sorry. I haven't done a real soil grow so I can't really say if that's a good mix or not. Seems to be working well for you.

Damn bro, you don't need any nutes, maybe some cal-mag if you get that def on some strains and some supplement at the end but with all that in the soil you should benefit from the organics and skip the nutes unless absolutely needed. I use the supplements of just A&B because I use a simple mix of airy medium 50% PRO-Mix/50% Triple mix, not enough in there to get me through a full cycle. If the odd pheno gets a cal-mag def I use a higher percentage of the A formula for a couple of feedings which is high in cal-mag and they're good to go.

Been going real light w/ everything but you're definitely right. Starting to see some slight nute burn on most of the girls. Just the tips right now. Gonna run str8 water for a while n see how they look n a week. Watering is gonna be an everyday thing pretty soon. I'm thinking bigger pots next time 4 sure. Got roots coming out all over on the smart pots n they've got a ways to go...

lol, it always seems like forever but time flies, seems like I just finished spec'ing out new lights and I have about a week left on one of my plants in the first run. Steady as she goes, you'll be there sooner than you think :)

Nice, looks like you're all set once those ladies finish, always a good idea to keep the main lady happy ;)
haha yeah it was a small miracle that she let it go down in the house in the first place. Last thing i need is to give her a reason to change her mind xD

I know it's going to be a while before it matters but when you go to harvest do you guys typically cut all the fan leaves off, then hang up the plants in sections, and trim the sugar leaves after drying for 5-6 days, then place the buds in jars? I've read a lot on curing but not much on harvesting / trimming / drying. Also what parts do you keep for cooking? Just popcorn buds and sugar leaves or is it worth hanging on to the fans to cook down to butter or summ??

Much like you're describing it for me.

I trim all the fan leaves before cutting, it's just easier while the plant is still in the container. I throw way the fans as they don't really have anything worth extracting and can change the colour/clarity of things like BHO. I leave any sugar leaves around the buds. I hang the whole plant typically, but indoor I'm limited in space so depending on the size of harvest I may end up hanging individual colas. Hanging the whole plant has worked well for me for many years so I'll try to stick to that, no right/wrong way, I've just been doing the whole plant for years so I do that. Once dry I trim them, I find it easier to trim off the sugar leaves after drying, separate the buds and throw them into curing jars (cans actually, I keep my 1Kg coffee cans with lids, they fit close to a QP). Cure typically for 4 weeks minimum, but take small samples after a week or so, love fresh bud :)

For edibles, hash, oil I use the sugar leaves and small popcorn buds. Edibles with pure bud can be quite strong so I don't usually cook with bud, but if I have a good outdoor season I use some bud for oil and hash, better yields typically and it's always killer stuff, reserved for personal use ;) I don't grow much outdoor now, have 3 plants at the cottage that'll pull maybe 16-20 oz so I'll likely be using just the popcorn/small bud and trim going forward.

Thanks for describing your process bro. I'll try to do it similarly with the slight difference of chopping into manageable pieces rather than the whole plant, and using mason jars rather than coffee cans. Do you notice much difference beyond your 4 week cure or is that about prime time for you?

I'm guessing there won't be much for hash or budder coming out of my little tent. Only so many popcorn buds n sugar leaves on these dwarves... Would be damn nice to try my hand at making hash tho.
