King Klone vs. LED

Day 10 vegging from clones.

They're all very healthy. The Candyland in the back are noticeably bigger than the 2 Blackjack in the front. The one in the front left is the weakest link for sure, equally healthy as the rest of the bunch, but just not as tall. The Blackjack are definitely stacking up though where as the Candyland are of a lankier breed being more Sativa dominant.

Thinking they'll veg for another 10-14 days. They can't get too big because I still need to fit my big ass green gator filter in there somehow. It can't hang after I put up another light, so it's going to have to go on the floor somewhere. Considering how big that thing is, it's going to be a tight squeeze once they girls bush out. I'm not sure how this is going to work, might have to go filterless now that I'm drawing it out in my head. To be continued on that note.

Current Feeding Regiment
Canna A & B @ 6ml/g ea.
Rhizotonic @ 7ml/g
Cannazym @ 8ml/g
Silica Blast @ 1 cap full
MagiCal @ 1 cap full

They get fed about every other day. Gradually increasing the A & B amounts with each feed, while backing off the Rhizo. Just introduce the zym two feeds ago and will keep it around 8-9ml/g throughout harvest. And yeah, I don't measure the Silica or Cal/Mag. Just a cap full does the trick. As they get bigger I may increase those amounts as well.

Temps are steady at 72-74 degrees and humidity has been pretty much locked in at 37%. We'll see how the temps manage once they girls get bigger and another light is tossed in the mix. That may ultimately play a factor in my decision making about what to do with the filter & fan.

That's all I have for now. I'll probably get one more update in right before the switch to 12/12.

Day 5 of 12/12

The girls are doing great. Just had a minor hiccup about a week ago. After one of the feeds a couple fan leaves on both the Candylands got a little stressed and burned around the edges. New growth is all healthy though. One Blackjack was smaller than the other 3 plants, so I anchored down the tops a few days ago and the new growth is all at an even canopy now. Also spread out some of the branches on them to open them up a bit.

When I flipped to 12/12 I also turned on the reds on the SGS-160 and turned on the AT200. So it's those two lights in there from here on out. There's no way I can fit the gator filter in here so I'm just running the exhaust fan, no filter. The SGS is covering the two plants on the right: front right = Blackjack; back right = Candyland. The AT200 is covering the two on the left: front left = Blackjack; back left = Candyland. Not a true side by side but that that's not the intention of this grow.

Nutrient wise, they're up to 9ml/gal A & B, dropped the Rhizotonic down to 2ml/gal, increased the Cannazym to 8ml/gal, and am at 5ml/gal of Boost, which will gradually get increased.

I dropped something into the canopy and it damn near snapped off a couple fan leaves on on the back left Candyland. They're hanging on a bit bent down, you can see it in one of the pics. I know it's not a big deal, but I still got a little sad. Shows how big of a baby I am when it comes to my plants.

Other than that, not much else going on. Just having a hard time deciding what to germ for the party cups. Chocolope Cheese, Cotton Candy Bubble Gum, Cherry AK, White Romulan Grapefruit, Sour OG, Sage N Sour, or 2 of these mystery seeds I've had for years and can't read the writing. I know they'll all be fire so it's tough.

Day 12 of 12/12

Flowers are coming in nicely. The first few days of 12/12, the temps in there were high 80s and hit 90 at the top a foot above the lights. Once I rigged the closet door to allow the fan to exhaust out the temps dropped to 78 which is only a couple degrees higher than the rest of the house. I'll get some pictures next time of the setup.

The girls stretched a lot and are only about 5 or 6 inches from the lights now. They seem to be handling it ok, a little leaf curl under the Apache. So I'm going to start pinching some of the stems down because the lights can't get much higher than one or two more inches.

Other than that, it's about time to pick the grapes. I saw some other guys post theirs so figured I'd show off my little grape pot. Got it from home depot spring 2013 and this is the first harvest off it. Nothing huge, just a few bunches like the one in the pic but they taste great. It's in like a 3 gallon clay pot, I don't even remember what bag of soil we put in, was like some company's "super soil". Going to put it in a bigger pot for next season so if anyone has any recommendations about what to buy for grapes I'd appreciate the advice. Pretty sure they are concord but can't remember for the life of me and don't think we saved the label.

The girls look so health. You can see the difference in strain real easy. Both looking like their parents. And buds forming nicely.
Your grapes are perfect. Mine is an over grown unmanaged mess that came with the property. We are going to put a few new ones in next year and start from scratch.

Thanks, man. Yeah, there's a big difference in the leaf structure from the candyland to the blackjack. Both are nice and healthy and seem to take the feed the same. I have a big favor to ask of you brother. If it's not too much trouble, would you mind doing a PAR reading on an AT200 from 6"? I'm really curious to know what kind of PAR they're getting this close to the apache. They seem to be handling it fine. I imagine it's gotta be +1500 that close but I have no idea really. No worries if you don't get around to it though. Just kinda something that would be nice to know.

The grapes definitely need some sort of management. It wasn't until we got the trellis that the vines really started to take off. Next year with a bigger pot, and I have an idea of what to expect, it should be a lot better. Yours might be a mess but it looks like its been established for a long time and puts out some big bunches.

Directly under the light 6" with the 14's is maxing out my meter at 3000µmols, it could be more but my meter only goes to 3000.
With the 50's it's ~2000µmols.

Sounds like you need the 50's. I'm pretty sucre AT hooked scotch up with a set of both. You have a 120 too, so I think they owe you. Get a hold of them and see if they can get some out to you. Worst case PM me...I have some extra.

I could've swore I read you nabbed some with you 200 but yea, they make a hell of a difference. My ol AT collecting dust in the 3x3' (sniff) thought about boxing it just to keep it clean

Nothing right now. I might try blowing the exhaust into the green gator filter sitting right outside the closet and see how that works, but there's no way it can fit into the closet. Girls are reeking though. I have a couple buckets of ona gel that helps with the smell.

Damn, over 3000, I was way off in my guess, haha. Well, it's good to know that the plants can handle that much. I ended up pinching the tops down to horizontal so now it's still about 6 inches. They haven't stopped stretching yet...I'll definitely hit up AT about some 50s. Completely forgot that was an option.

I think I might have said I was going to get some, but never got around to it and forgot. On my to do list now though. Yeah, I always box my stuff up when not in use, just like to keep it safe and out of sight. How's your diy project going? I think last I remember seeing was you were wiring up some reds to complement the cobs

Maybe you could read a positive pressure setup blowing into the tent with your filter outside of it on the top. Or something alike for a negative pressure environment

The 50's bring the AT much close to the SGS readings in the center but I didn't pay attention to outside coverage, at least I don't remember. The DIY is back on the workbench, I ordered some more xml2s an found someone who mounts 670 photo reds on stars so I ordered some of those. Went ahead and took it back apart and will put the new ones in when they arrive, adding two extra xml2s to the outer part, felt like there was a concentration of red and 3k there tht needed balanced.

G id love to see you an Chaz duke it out, IG choosing 660s and AT/51 630s, I've always been a fan of 660 but figured the big companies had more R&D than myself lol so they must be onto something. Hopefully mixing the great 3k 3070 spectrum (good amount of 630) with my 670s will compliment nicely. I thought I read somewhere the presence of 730 made other nm's (660) more available/absorbed but can't seem to find the source (thought tht Illinois article SDS linked but don't have time yet)

Edit: fly if your serious ill roll it over :/ I really love my AT.. A lot. But I'm already thinking DIY for now on.

Pics from yesterday, Day 17 of 12/12

Did some supercropping earlier in the week, it helped, but the girls' necks popped back up. Might need to do it again. The tops are super close, like 3 or 4 inches from the lights. A little closer on the sgs side. Really surprised they are handling the intensity that close as well as they are. Only thing is the fan leaves at the very top curling down some.

Talked to apache and let them know my situation with the stretch and not being able to raise the lights any higher. They sent me some 50 degree lenses to change out. Called them up wednesday afternoon, had the lenses on thursday. awesome customer service. they said to be on the look out for leaf yellowing as a result of being too close, something to do with starch. So far no yellowing.

I'll be doing a little cleanup down under this weekend, prune off some of the lowest branches. They're getting enough light but i need to clear it out some because i can barely get in there to water.

That's about all. I forgot to take a pic of the closet when it's all closed up. I'll try to remember to do that next update to show what I did to get the exhaust out. Also need to germ my party cup seeds.

Frost has started to set in on the girls and man they are starting to pack on the smell. I feel like things might be going a little slower than expected. Both strains are new for me so not sure what to expect. Also wondering if it might be due to being too close to the lights or the stem snapping I had to do. Either way, I feel like I lost a couple days time. Whether that's true or not, no clue. Everything is looking healthy though. Going to hit them with some PK 13/14 sometime soon. Still haven't put on the 50* lenses yet. Will try to ride it out with the 14s but if I start to see miscoloration I might just do it this round. So far I haven't seen any signs they can't handle it (except possible slow growth?). And I started 2 mystery seeds for the party cup comp, not sure if they'll make it though. I'll post the official update in the other thread as soon as they pop up. That's all for now. I'll post another update.

looks good.

Have you ever done organic coco , top dressing dry nutes and castings? I have one going like that and its growing really slow. It might be the pheno. Its a 9lb from seed. I'm just curious if its possibly the medium. Is straight coco better with bottled nutes? I may transplant directly into soil..
