Too bad I didn't pop out of one of those.

So you'd prefer the corporations are taxed less to encourage economical growth, jobs, etc, but tax the individuals who own the corporations more to compensate for the lower corporate tax? I'd sign that shit :) Good luck getting the bill through tho lmao. Too bad democratic politicians aren't actually as poor as Hilary thinks she is. Left wing politicians have just as much money and just as much incentive to fuck the little guy - just in a different way :) Not sure where I stand anymore as they all disgust me.
Lol don't we all. Damnit mom! Why did ya have to have a poor vagina!?!?!

Yep that would be the idea. I was reading a few really well written economic papers which included economists from many different angles consigning that idea. It promotes companies to spend and the tax difference is made up with more individuals getting paid more (more revenue to tax) and the wealthiest pay a higher burden as their income and dividends increase

I'd start with rasing the bar on social security withholdings, and raise the capital gains tax. To me that's a big one, and that is how wealthy folks get away with murder. It's criminal that an average Joe can pay a higher tax rate than a billionaire becasue average Joe is taxed at 30%+ for his $40k a year in ordinary income, while Joe Billionaie is taxed at 18% becasue the vast majority of his earnings (on purpose) are stock options.

Treat capital gains as ordinary income. Seems fair to me.
I agree, we should just throw the corrupt bankers into prison. But oh wait... the police don't protect the people they protect the system.

Couldn't have said it better myself! Remove the $110 k cap on social security, increase capital gains taxes. The argument for them to be lower when it was reduced was for the "average" person. Fair enough, have it be a progressive tax so you don't harm the "average" and higher on the wealthy. I'd be fine with taxing it as ordinary income after a certain amount as well

No one went to jail for essentially collapsing the economy, compare that to the S&L crisis when a shit ton of bankers, CEOs, and boards went to jail.... we gave them a free pass and a blank fucking check.

Really it's our own faults because ya know the banks can "regulate" themselves...that really worked out well huh?

Well the Federal Reserve has two main components, 1. To aid in maximum employment via monetary policy and 2. To control interest rates for moderate growth over a long period of time.

During the recession, the Federal Reserve had to pump out additional monies. With only two real tools at its disposal, buying bad debt via quantitative easing was the only means to increase the movement of money. Nothing can be worse for capitalist economies than having money markets frozen. This can lead to a variety of terrible things from a business not being able to make payroll, to banks not lending to each other (even worse). Money needs to move for an economy to be healthy. What was stated to happen is this would help everyday people, such as refinancing homes and the like. What should of happened with banks being able to write off bad debt was a similar measure for consumers to do the same. This policy would have helped stall the foreclosure crisis (it's ridiculous how important home sales and ownership is for our economy), but really it aided the banks more than anything.

People can rail about "personal responsibility" all they want, but where was the personal responsibility of the businesses making these bad decisions? Why did they get a free pass while your neighbors or yourself didn't?

Damn here I was thinking it was impossible for a political cinversation to take place on this forum without tnhe obscenities flying lol, guess ya gotta saty out of the politics section if ya want a real political convo lol
I ventured into there once and I found it to be a shit show. Between people who were full of conspiracy theories to Ann Rand libertarians, with nary a grasp of any political philosophy I'd have have a more productive conversation with a fruit bowl.

So I am sitting here eating some kettle chips and smoking some chernobyl and I can't find anything else to add here yet.

Don't worry folks I will think of a good story or something to share. The civility of a political conversation in the seed and strain forum is out of this world. I think that is because we respect each other though those other funbags are on for the trollin.

ok, couldn't resist getting into it, I learned this at a young age (probably date myself) I used to collect baseball cards, and I think it was 1990 that Score Cards made the Bo Jackson Football/Baseball card, the prices went through the roof, and everybody wanted one, so what did Score do? They printed a WHOLE lot of Score cards, releasing an asston with Walmart (I think) the price plummeted as everyone and their mother had the card all of a sudden.
Point is.... If you were China, and somebody owed you an ASSTON of money, and then all of a sudden decided to print out a whole bunch of extra cash to pay you?
I don't know about you guys, but i'd be asking for gold or silver, if I were them, and if they did? The U.S. would be fucked

Well I think most of the time people just want either a circle jerk/echo chamber or they just want to yell over one another and resort to name calling.

What gets accomplished from that? It puts everyone on guard and doesn't challenge anyone from an intellectual standpoint.

I enjoy a good healthy debate of ideas. I like to challenge my own beliefs, sometimes those beliefs are discarded for better ones when evidence supports such things.

I know where I stand, but I'm not cemented to all the associated beliefs of that system. Sometimes a better argument comes I along and I change up, other times I find new evidence that further supports my position. Either way I enjoy debate (was a debate nerd in high school), and love learning about the world around me.

If anyone is ever interested in really interesting, civilized debates about issues that matter, check out Intelligence Squared. It's Oxford style debating and hosts some really amazing speakers. You can find it on NPR as a pod cast or stream it from the Internet

Well you are forgetting that the Federal Reserve can take money out of the economy via raising interest rates.

China's economy is a fascinating mess all in its own right. They must grow at 8% every year to keep their economy stable. Failure to do so would be disastrous for them (and the world economy as a whole). China inflates this number artificially by creating empty cities and building simply to keep their number high. Plus they have a semi state controlled economy, this alone will force changes as a rising middle class continues to form within the country.

Plus let me pose this question to you: where would China put it's money to be safe? What other country has a better track record and promise to repay than the United States?
