You're in good hands with Rrog! Our resident organic ganga-guru.You've got yourself an apprentice good sir!
Yea but if ur 'vegetarian' ur poop dont pollute
...and in order to be 'truly' organic you would have to chop the tree down and make your own toilet paper to wipe your own ass with
We're all dependent on the chemical/plastic/synthetic matrix for some bulllshit thing or other--
Self reliance sustainability permaculture biodynamics and organic practices should be the new mantra as we go into the new millineum
Which we are seeing everywhere with the new 'green thinking' mentality.....
Humans have become a parisite on this planet and no longer live in balance and harmony with their surroundings

Funny thread!

Go organic johnny!
The gospel according to reality! You're in good hands with Rrog! Our resident organic ganga-guru.
Amen buck!
OMFG dude, I say that ALL the time! We have become parasites and like all parasites, eventually they either destroy their host which then destroys the parasites or the parasites perish and the host is allowed to flourish again. All though, I suppose there is a balance in one way or another that some parasites and hosts live in harmony with one another for an entire lifespan. Now shit just got wildYea but if ur 'vegetarian' ur poop dont pollute

I water my mother plants with whatever amounts of remaining nutrient solution left in my reservoir when i finish a run and harvest. Just because i use cheap nutes doesn't mean i waste them by dumping them down the drain lol! The fact is, from veg through harvest not one bit of my water or nutrients go down the drain. All inorganic, all hydroponic, all good, no waste...Well, what do you do with your spent reservoirs huel? Drink them?
I agree that the basement hobbyist doesn't contribute to the problem as much as a farmer with 4 sections of land, but every bit counts.
I suppose I could say fuck it with recycling paper and cans too. My little bit hardly matters, right? If we all had that attitude collectively it would create a big problem.
Huel, it sounds like you've got things in order for your setup and that rocks in my opinion. This is all about our personal journey into the plant and utilizing whichever method works for you and what you want to accomplish. I think we all have at least a few good ideas that others could learn from and benefit in their own garden / lives. I'm far from perfect as a matter of fact, I'm a lot like mother earth; I got a whole lotta good with a handful of flaws but I make it work one day at a time. I promise I'm gone now. The wife is looking at me funny....you all know that look. Shit's scary!I water my mother plants with whatever amounts of remaining nutrient solution left in my reservoir when i finish a run and harvest. So to answer you snobbish question, no, i do not drink my spent reservoirs.

The pollution comes from wasting nutrients, not from using them. Hence, recirculation hydroponics, and as pointed out by Huel, reduce the waste drastically. The only waste I have from a grow are the roots, the leaves, and the branches. The few gallons I do flush down the toilet are just barely higher in ppm than my tap water is to begin with.
The two 1-liter bottles I use for about 2 runs have a very low impact on the environment compared to all the bags and packages I used to drag to or have delivered to my home. And the use of soil itself. Potting soil contains a good amount of peat (here in NL anyway). We've been running out of local old quality peat so we get it elsewhere, this is a global issue causing a major increase in CO2 ( https://unfccc.int/files/kyoto_protocol/application/pdf/draftpeatlandco2report.pdf ) Instead of just looking for articles that show the downsides of synthetic nutes, also look for resources that show the impact of organic growing, for mj and veggies alike so you can at least make an informed unbiased decision. It's not all as good for the planet as the word organic seems to apply (which is obviously partly influenced by: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_nature )
I probably provided more information in this thread then anyone else, sorry you don't like my suggestions. If you don't wish to participate productively in this thread, you are a free man; feel free to check out some other threads more to your liking with company more to your liking.
I'm actually going to read the materials you provided in the morning. You chose to add a negative connotation to this thread and I'll move on now. Again, thanks for the discussion, this has been some real talk and that's a good thing.I probably provided more information in this thread then anyone else, sorry you don't like my suggestions.
I suggest you reread my posts, then read post # 34 and 36, then tell me I added negativity.I'm actually going to read the materials you provided in the morning.
