hello RIU's, im new too this, well not really i was more of a reader lol, anyways my question today is about a grow room that im in a process of building, just need some quick advise on different styles to setup a 12x11 and 7 feet tall room space. and the best way too bring cool air to the hoods and exhaust hot air from hoods, this is my 3rd grow under my belt so any advice will be appreciated, im running pure coco coir by the way,

heres a list of stuff that i bought from the hydro store and local stores.

1.(4) 600watt digilux bulbs.
2.(4) 600watt lumatek ballast.
3.(4) air cooled XXXtreme Reflectors.
4. (1) Blueprint Controllers Blueprint HID Hub 4 Site HUB-4 BHH604
5. (4) rotating wall fans.
6.(1) 6,000 btu portable LG air conditioner.
7. (2) 6x5 flood tables.
8. industrial mylar.

below is what i made on sketchup, so you guys get an idea how i want to setup my room.

hope to hear from someone soon! thanks!

Um.... What?? :dunce:

You don't have any duct fans or ducting on that list!

I would pull air through a carbon filter into a duct fan which is blowing air through the lights and then out of the building. :bigjoint:

Exactly.
Run a 6" duct with an inline fan drawing the heat out of the light. You dont need to send cool air to the light just get rid of all the hot air.
One main duct running out of the room to get rid of the hot smelly air. With another inline fan with a big carbon scrubber on it.
An inline fan on a duct bringing air into the grow area is as important gettin rid of the hot air

Looking at your rendering id say it looks pretty good
Just run a duct between the lights on each side.
I would add a second exit duct and some serious inlines and scrubber thats it

You'll make better use of that ac if you don't pull air from the room to run through your hoods, knock out 2 holes in your wall, one hole that brings air from outside the room to pass through the lights and one hole for it to exit, put the fan on the end of the light loop so it's pulling thru the hoods not pushing, if it's pushing and your gaskets aren't 100% tight on the hoods you might be blowing some hot air back inside your room. This will be easier on your ac than if you pulled cooled air from the grow space and extracted it from the room. Just use your carbon scrubber as turn over filter inside the room, you know, with an inline fan on top just filtering air and dumping it back in the room again for odor control.

All that being said, in my experience 6k btu may not be enough for 2400watts, I typically use one 12k unit for 4 600s. But ambient temp and outside climate has a lot to do with that... A dehumidifier might be something to think about depending on what kind of ac you have. And with 4 lights id go ahead and buy a co2 burner, it'll be worth it.

Good luck and sweet rendering, looks tight

thanks for the responses, really appreciate it, heres an update of my render (pictures below). so i decided too run a one 8 inch 1000cfm inline fan and a custom air filter box thats mounted out side of the room bringing cool air into the air cooled hoods (picture below), i cut one hole on the wall and added a 8 inch Y split(example picture below) thanks for the ideas guys!..garden.jpg more grow.jpg pro garden.jpg

Looks good but it makes alot more sense to have the box or carbon scrubber whatever that is filtering the air leaving the grow room not filtering the cool air coming in.
With a set up like that with four lights and i assume alot of plants your going to need some searious odour control.
Since it looks like your spending a fortune already do yourself a favour and invest a bit on a good ion ozone generator. It will help alot
Good luck

u are missing something

with the way the hoods are u are not cycling the air in the room with fresh stuff

your filter box u can take that and move it down low and use it as the intake of the room ..........they sell something called shroom caps u can use to filter the air that goes over the light

as for the ac u should have it outside the room for more effective .......as it is now u are just cooling used air in the room ......if u have it outside the room u can grab fresh air cool it and send that in ........but u still need a exhaust for the hot used air in the room

Dang.. how come everybody is a million times better at sketchup than I am.. ?

Nice setup.. its similar to mine.
thanks dude, what type of a/c system are you running?

not worried about smell, its far far away from everyone lol. :bigjoint::peace:

i was going to put a carbon filter with a 400 cfm inline exhausting the stale air, and using another custom air filter box with another inline fan as an intake. both are going to be on a timer. 15 minutes on and 30 minutes off. will that be fine? my buddy told me to do that. since im not running c02.

Actually right where your AC is is my propane heater and co2 generator, and control board, I run at night, and its pretty cool where I live so I need a tiny bit of heat to keep it over 70's at all times.

If you're not worried about smell why even have a carbon filter?.

I assume youre limiting ventilation because of AC issues/cost.

I feel like I need more ventilation when the lights are off, the theory is that the somata of the plants are open, so it raises the RH.

I would come up with a strategy to utilize cooler air to ventilate with, and not ventilate when the weather is hot outside.

it looks like u have a large room ...........u should leave the air on ....i mean just plug it in and leave it alone let it run
12x11x7 is a CF of 924

for a good plant u want to exchange that at least once every 3 mins........so that is 308 CFMs u said a 400cfm with scrubber on so u are about370/380

personally i like mine stronger i replace my tents air every 20 secs
