i just looked for fun but was surprised to see you can get a nice house on an acre+ with a greenhouse for under $300k all over the place on the big island.

285k for this tasty little fucker with a house on an acre with a nice sized greenhouse 10 minutes from town or the beach.

i'm having a hard time thinking of a reason why not to do it.

some of those lava homes are really nice. all off the grid. most are small. some kooks out there, but mostly nice

seems like everyone has a rain catchment system or two. electric is about the same price as here on the mainland until you get over 1000 kwh, then it shoots up to about $0.16 per kwh instead of $0.11. the food and staple items are a little more costly but not that bad.

the only problem is getting all your stuff out there. your pets have to pass inspection too.

and I believe your family members are not representative of most kanaka maoli, if they are here, in the US. most cannot afford to see a doctor, keep up with real estate taxes, or buy new clothing. very sad.

save your nasty attitude.......this isn't politics. I have known many maoli. 75% would gladly vote for ethnic cleansing of Hawaii. in fact, 77.295% . I do not blame them.
