Getting too big and too tall

I had this same problem, in the future plan for this in advance. In the veg stage, when your plant is appx. 12-24" tall, top it. Carefully spread the lower branches & then loosely tie them off to some bamboo sticks. You can repeat this process a few times as the plant grows. I usually end up with about 12-18 sticks around a 5-6 foot diameter plant, much wider than it is tall.

My goal is to keep my plants around 4 to 4 1/2 feet tall come harvest. When flower stage arrives remember your plants will still grow about a foot appx. You won't get a monster yield, probably 4-8 oz., but more importantly, you probably won't get caught or ripped.

Also, if your growing in a pot, check out smart pots.

Good Luck

Thanks Johny, that's some good advice there. I never thought she'd get that big to be honest. I fim'd her at at very early stage, just after transplanting it to the sac which she's now in. The coco-coir, Spanish sun and tender love has seen her grow nice big!

Do they really grow another foot during the flower stage - shit! Will need to start tying down the uppermost branches now then.

Cheers

I have tied branches down before as was mentioned by others earlier. You can tie them down some one day and the next go a little more and so on until they are parallel to the ground just be careful you don't break or split them where they join the main stalk..If you topped her already this method works really well. This also encourages the side branches to reach up and IMHO increases yield

Right, time to get tying I think.

Jhonny vapor gave exelent advice. I've been dealing with this issue for decades and have tried most of what I've read here with the exception of clip on flowers......if you start early enough you'd be amazed at how you can train your plants to grow. Good luck to you and remember
"endeavor to perservere......heard that on a old Clint Eastwood movie and it has stuck with me but its true

Haha love the oranges! I did that once to disguise a plant, plus the fake fruit was kinda heavy so it also privides alittle bit of tie down...
