That's what I was thinking but will roots be damaged by pulling upwards and out of the lid? Depending on root size obviously... I might be building one of these!

Thanks for the easy to follow pics!

Either works, I've done both. I suppose you could even leave it on....
I thought it would be great to show pictures of each step instead of typing it out

r.o. water, cal mag,and this similar cloner http://m.ebay.com/itm/181407008520?nav=SEARCH works for me...im not the d.i.y. kinda guy either:-D(i have the 64site..100% every round)
why not simplify if i may add a hint...use a pen, make a few holes, and no darts..when the roots come round, cut the top of the canister off the stems..im sure by the time youll need clones again, youll have consumed a new canister of coffee:-)

The idea is for a RE-USABLE container... why cut it up and throw it away? seems kinda wasteful, especially since the darts are WAY cheaper, plus some people don't drink folgers... I bought it and dumped out the coffee grounds... Folgers is garbage coffee, and there for belongs in the garbage!

wasting folgers is wasteful, when i do drink coffee(rare,im an espresso guy)i like folgers..and the darts will wear out..my collars do also..im not saying its a bad idea, but i like the idea of actually getting a "brand new" resivoir and top each go round..if you dont like folgers,do it in an ice cream container or tupperwear food container ect, whatever youll actually consume..i myself would hate to waste coffee, time,or gas $ so i can save on nerf darts and containers:-)

Very nice man. I like the compact size. Doesn't take up as much room as some of the other that use coolers or big rubbermade totes.

the best thing about it is, most people have most of this shit just laying around!
Frozenchozen, that is awesome! I love cheap Homemade alternatives. Small and simple! Great post!
Thanks! I'm glad so many people can get use from it!

Sweet! A bit too small for me bit very nice.
thanks, the idea was intended for a compact space, but the application can still be used on a much bigger level. A good friend of mine uses sterilite shoe tubs with about 50 sites, he orders 100 packs of nerf darts for about $12 and swears by them.... Shit, I'll swear by 'em too:bigjoint:... personally I like the coffee can because its only about 1.5 liters filled to the brim, it has a handle, when stored it easily contains everything you need to clone a plant, and if I end up throwing it out its no big deal!

with the $80 you spend on your ebay job, I can build 4 of these and have tons of darts to spare....
to me $80 on a cloner seems wasteful, when the $20 model is just as good, if not better

Well, if one can order them dart nerf things that cheap online, I might try too.

For how long can you let it root without issues? I'd like to see a picture of the underside of the lid, with clones in it, after e.g. 5-10 days, to see the root growth...
I'll do the same to mine - compare :)
