1400 watts?

Okay I currently run 1000 watt hortilux super blue and 400 watt super hps.....During flowering should I run ONLY HPS bulbs? I've read several articles that say full spectrum is better then strait red....And do you think that full spectrum would encourage more vigorous growth during veg even tho you dont need near the output of this system for a few plants?

You can '''play''' all you like but convention and experience tells me to stick to the red kelvins(2700k) to get the bud you have been wanting these last few months, sure you can get bud under any cool white light, it whether you will like it is all?

But would running a lesser wattage bulb like 400w MH (5500k) adversly effect the wattage from a 1000w hps?

I doubt the plants would even feel the affects of this color of light on them, remember schools days when 'we' learn't
red has a longer wave, than blue or even white color waves, I'd encourage you to experiment but for the last 2-3 weeks of bud I'd allow the plants to settle on the red hps to finish correctly

Right But wouldnt I get both if I got both going on?
Even dual spectrum bulbs have a definite hps and mh side, the light is not evenly blended across the entire area. The blue side yields less but seems to, at least in many cases, result in higher resin production.

Short of employing a light mover, your not evenly distributing the varied lighting.

In any case you yield what you yield. ;) as some would say "about a pound"

So theres no way the light waves blend is what you are telling me? one will overwhelm the other instead? I will run 1000w hps then if thats the case.....Sorry, the force is not with me on this one master.....roflmao:eyesmoke:

I rotate my plants instead of light mover..lol... But ok I get the jest of it .....But still full spectrum all the way through would be better right ?Blue/red evenly distributed?? The sun is not merely one spectrum and the idea is to imitate it correct? even though it shifts spectrums with seasons? Even then there would be some blue with red during flowering? Sorry guys just wanting to figure out optimum lighting and be done with it ya kno?o_O

Yes it changes with season is very noticeable but so is the suns light at dawn and dusk, more red, and the hottest or brightest during the day is seen by the plants as the time for maximum photosynthesis, under that midday "Blue" light, or 4-6 hours each side of midday, and yes as a grower you should get just as pissed with an annoying cloud as your plants ...lol. true

just use full spectrum hps all the way through.. you can veg fine under HPS.. just use lower wattage.

rather than the 400w MH and 1000w HPS i would run

Ideally you want even light distribution so having 2 600s would work better than the 400 and 1000.

Not so great. Had some green mold hit. I have a couple syringes left to work with though so as long as I get closer each time. I had gotten the jars to colonize but I am having trouble fruiting with this popcorn. Its only been about a week though since introduced to light and FAE. Should be seeing some fruits within the next 2 weeks or I am tossing this tub and starting a new tek or at least trying to clean it up some. I don't really like using coco coir or vermiculite to be honest..

I'm determined to succeed though.

Brother stay away from coir I know them dudes are stuck on it with popcorn ...but wbs for spawn 50/50 Black kow manure(3$ lowes)&verm....way more contam resistant.......wbs is easier to check moisture content then pop IMO...That second pic up top has what I just put into incubation sittin in my grow box....

Looks like i can't get Penningtons or Black Kow without dropping a fortune.. I will try WBS and aged composted cow manure... I still have some WBS i used for last jar run and it worked.

penningtons has cracked corn too doesn't it? i think what i got is the same pretty much.

once you remove the corn and sunflower it is mostly millet and safflower. I think i will just remove the sunflower and leave the cracked corn.. its a lot of work trying to seperate the corn and it seems impossible to find bird seed without it.

i have access to aged composted cow manure..

i just refuse to drop 50 bucks for the bird seed and like 30 bucks for the manure when I know i could get them both for under 10 bucks.

What do you do to prep your manure?

do you do the 1/4 inch verm, 1/2 inch manure. then mix the colonized WBS with the manure.. top with a layer of vermiculite 1/4".

do you soak your vermiculite in water first or leave it dry?
