Marijuana Related Deaths

holy shit.
so i just got in this huggee argument with my sister about whether or not marijuana can kill you, she said yes, and i clearly said no. she said that people who are allergic to marijuana can die from it. it can cause cardiovascular irregularities and cause you to go into cardiac arrest. i quickly went on the hunt to find some information to back up my claims so i could shove it in her face.

what i found was an article stating that two people had died since colorado legalized. one person apparently ate a weed cookie and jumped off a building. another apparently ate a cheeba chew and shot his wife. HAHA. clearly these people had many issues, marijuana use not being one of them. (the government states that marijuana can create violence when it suits them, they will also state that it makes you lazy and happy in other arguments)

i did however find an article stating that two people had, relatively recently, died in germany from marijuana use. two young people. one had prior heart conditions, the other, prior alcohol, amphetamine and cocaine abuse issues.

what do you guys know? this is a medical community. many of us use cannabis for anything ranging from depression, prior drug dependencies, cancer, ptsd, heart complications and many other serious health conditions, the list goes on.

my argument was how many people do you know who smoke pot? she said tons. i then asked, how many people do you know who smoke A FUCK LOAD of pot, she said a ton as well... i then asked.. have any of them died yet..?

what does everybody know about marijuana related deaths from a scientific and medical stand point?

There's been 0 deaths attributed solely to cannabis use. Cannabis simply isn't toxic enough to do any kind of lasting harm. Clearly cannabis can be a factor in accidental deaths as pointed out in the cases of Colorado, but it was not the cause. If you can't be responsible with your use thats on you as a fuck up as a human being, don't blame a plant.

The guy who shot his wife had a history of mental illness and whether or not he was on his med's I'm unsure. But people love to overlook the key facts in these stories. Also, you can tell her that weed didn't kill these people, their actions did. He didn't suddenly fall into hysterics and decide to shoot his wife, just like that kid didn't eat a cheeba chew and suddenly thought he could fly. More of the stigma we have to deal with.

i'm interested in whether or not people know of any health conditions that cannabis could cause diverse effects if interacted with, like hey i'm not a doctor. but i'm very educated on mmj and i've never heard of anything like that.. apparently it exists though.. so i'm told.

Like anything else medical it is going to affect everyone differently so no 2 people who have the same ailments will experience the exact same affects. MAYBE cardiac arrhythmia(irregular heartbeat), not fatal but not something you'd want to smoke a racy sativa if you had. I've heard of some people with Schizophrenia having episodes triggered but that's very dependent on the person. A friend of the family is fine as long as he is on his med's if he smokes.

only cannabis related death i've ever heard was that synthetic cannabis was linked to 1.
so no, no natural cannabis deaths i know of.

Just to be a fly in the ointment.....isn't there concern regarding things like shatter? Now I say that word not having a clue how to make/use it, but I do remember reading something about that. I don't know how much that would count as it is a concentrate, but....just putting it out there.

Shatter is just a term used for it's consistency. To make it easier, think of concentrates like making candy with a candy thermometer. Depending on the temperature and other little tiny variables(whip air in for budder) you can have many different forms of the dame product. So with the exact same starting material you can make: Dry sift, bubble hash, oil, shatter, budder, wax, nectar, annnnnnnnnnnnd I think that's about it, lol Then you can get into stuff like winterizing which separates lipids and terpenes from the concentrate.

Shatter or whatever people call it is just a concentrated version of weed. If your tolerance levels are low the worst thing it can do is make you puke or pass out. Doesn't sound like you have much experience with it, send it to me just to be safe and I'll "dispose" of it, it's a great sleeping pill alternative to the 100's of pharma sleeping pills, with their hundreds of side-effects #$@%

actualy i know of one 2009 nine 18 year old kid smoked for the first time wanted to know what the hype was about and went and smoked at the lounge in los angles left and hit someone ran a red light got killed and killed people in the other car first time getting high.. the owner of the mmj shop went to prison i believe he got something 25 to life... not kidding ill look for the article..

Ha! I be using trying/using it before I would send it to any of you for safe "disposal". Lol I thought there were some very high concentrations of thc in these things...more so than hash. I will have to try and find that info. Hey, I'm old (well feel old) and not hip on all the funky ways to concentrate/use marijuana. See beck when I was a kid, pot, hash and oil were the big 3....now there's all kinds of shit I know nothing about. And brownies!
