spider mites

Hello. I'm 5 weeks into flowering and just noticed that a few leaves on each of my 6 plants were speckled. upon closer inspection, i see tiny moving spider mites and hundreds of little eggs. I have removed the most damaged leaves and temporarily placed the plants outdoors (its 35-40f outside right now). This far into flower, is it wise to use a bug bomb? spray the plant with insecticide? They are being havested in another 3 weeks. if bug bombs or sprays are not wise at this time, is there anything else I can do to just manage them until this crop is done?

well... night time temps here have been in the upper 20s for a couple weeks... so outdoor bugs are pretty much gone right now. but I will look into that product... thanks. Actually I've just sent someone off to my local hydro store. I'm getting some dr doom spider mite knockout and a dr doom fogger. I guess this chemical kills everything and breaks down whithin hours... so its safe to use whenever.

Myself, I use Hot Shots No Pest Strips. $6 at Home Depot.
These things kill everything in the room except your plants.
Nothing touches the plants, so there's nothing to dissipate like with other types of pesticides.

You have to be careful though and not use them in your living area or around any pets.

i've heard a lot of good things about those pest strips. I'm just wondering... my grow room is directly under my bedroom. you mention not to use the strips in your living area. Any possible problems here?

I had spider mites very bad, I tried every spray imaginable and couldn't get rid of them, they'd just adapt to whatever I was using on them, would look like they cleared up and then I'd find them again. I ended up spending a lot of money without getting results, one of the most frustrating growing experiences I've encountered. Only thing that ended up working for me was to overload the little bastards with C02.

this thread is obviously very old. But putting plants outside in 20 degrees when they have mites is a great idea. MJ plants can handle a little frost, but mites cannot. It is a risky game, but spider mites r terrible and they will ruin your buds. It will likely not fix the problem, but it will slow them down, which may be enough.

no pest strips r not to be used in flowering, they are just like spraying a pesticide. Anything you and your dog cant be around is not able to be used on buds.

de-ionized water (mighty wash) did not work for my mites, and i have a strong feeling it is a 100% scam as noone has every explained why this would work vs mites, and why it costs so much for it when it is just de-ionized water....

you do know they can go dormant , I wouldn't be counting on that idea.
I would however know for fact that Mighty Wash by NPK industries is so lethal shit to spidermite and their eggs . 99.8335 percent water and the rest inert ingredients.
one dude on here even drank some of the shit (which I wouldn't recommend except in survival situation.)

he drank it cuz ALL THE SHIT IS IS DE-IONIZED WATER. U can literally get gallons of it from any chemistry department at any university for free. It is just uncommon in commercial uses so they charge out the ass for it because u cant find it. It is NOT LETHAL in any way to any living thing. Thus i feel it is likely BS, it may cause mites to leave your plants temp but it DOES NOT KILL THEM, as it cannot kill anything it is JUST WATER.

Uh, wtf? have you ever seen a few mites after being hit with mighty wash?
Trust me I wouldn't spend 100 bux for 5 gallon if it didn't work.
I can't believe you just said that.

well i put the stuff all over my plants and it did nothing. The next week they were infested as hell again. U claim u watch it kill spider mite? with your loop? or your bare eye? I would love to see this. As the claims the company makes go something like this.

"Mighty Wash kills mites using a special 'frequency' harnessed in the water inside of each bottle."

When that is your marketing all u get from me is a laugh and a, "GOT ME" when the product doesn't work.

it causes mites to leave planet you mean. They look like they've exploded IF you hit them.
I use devices that I def hit them.
And 5 gallon of mighty wash last me 6 months at least. pretty inexpensive in the end.

People swear by a ton of crap that is a total crock, im sorry that de-ionized water to kill a terribly invasive pest had to be the one u fell for.

U never answered any of the questions, u watch them explode with your bare eye? cuz mites r very small and rarely can i even see them clearly with my bare eye.

Id venture to say that being ble to witness a mite explode with your bare eyes is remarkable for a human.

I don't watch it kill the fucking thing although I love the idea of that I DON'T think I have the tech,
I look at the carnage with a scope like everyone else.

yes, i agree the water messes with their ability to move and they will LEAVE but they come back. The product is 100% incapable of killing a mite on contact.
