First outdoor grow.

Just transplanted the ladies today. I have kept them on a shelf in front of a window that gets the maximum amount of light each day for about a week and a half. A week before transplant I started using liquinox b-1 solution and they seemed to love it. The holes are roughly 22'' deep and 22'' wide. I used half FFOF and half Black Gold coco moisture hold soil. When they are ready I plan on using a compost tea with the watering and doing the 24hour evaporation technique with hose water in a 55 gallon plastic drum (Eastern Washington State). Strains are 2x Blue Dream, 2x GSC Thin Mint, 2x Super Girl, 2x Blackberry Kush, 1x G13 and 6x Grand Daddy Purple #1. Eventually I will plant around the outside perimeter pest repelling plants to give it a low profile as well as lady bugs if i can find some. And I know I will get shit for how root bound they were coming out of the cups, but the whole project took forever and didn’t have time to transplant into larger pots. Will be adding upper fencing and 6mil plastic this week sometime. Possibly some sort of hoop house for the top. Any suggestions, tips and words of wisdom are greatly appreciated : )

An update from today. Ladies are doing well it appears. Had nonstop rain for about 36 hours earlier this week. The soil here drains well so it was not an issue and gave me more time to finish the in-line water filter reservoir. I will start adding nutrients on a regular basis now as they are fairly established. I have not decided to do LST or Topping yet.... I have practiced doing both on a few training plants and have not had the best results but practice makes perfect. Pics 16.33.29.jpg-16.33.58.jpg is of 2 identical strains and I wanted to ask you all if this is flowering.....? Possibly from cuttings taken during flowering or a lack of needed sunlight? Anyways can’t wait to see how the filter and nutrients work. You may have noticed white powder at the base of the plants, that is just dolomite lime I added to increase Cal/Mag and balance PH and it mixes well with watering. I added another 1500 lady bugs but can only find 6 or less on each plant. Any words of wisdom are greatly appreciated. Stay growing my friends

Looking good, does the black stuff on the ground make things really hot? seems like it could get things frying, especially with white windblockers all around.

Looks like a pretty good set up for a first time outdoor grow and looks like your on top of everything!! I can't help but but think your spacing could of been a little further apart as those plants will start to block each other from the sun but there is always next year... Good luck!!

I'm no expert but that does look like it might be flowering. :-)
Just an aside, one of mine looked like this when I put her outside and she has since re-vegged and grown a foot.

Thanks for the encouragement and words of wisdom. It has not hit over 80 degrees here yet, but that is an interesting remark about the black weed block drawing more heat. I have been looking into putting a hoop house style roof on top; I think that would be a good idea to keep beneficial bugs in and bad ones out, as well as keep temperatures from fluctuating too much during day and night. Yes, more spacing would be ideal... guess I’ll have to do some serious trimming and training. I learned so much from doing this first one and most of the materials I can reuse, so the next time around it’s going to be twice the quality. The lady bugs I did release at night and on the first batch I used a half sugar half water spray to try and stick their wings and keep them from flying; they seem to be working, I have not noticed any new munching going on : ) Thanks again.

An opaque white gh cover will cause a cooling effect, where as an opaque clear gh cover will cause a warming effect.

I have been adding the Roots Organic to the 1/2 FFOF and 1/2 Black Gold soil mix (pictured below). I have 1 month left of solid veg time and need the expert opinion on what nutrient(s) to use before the flower cycle starts. I have read various posts about Epsom salt, un-sulphured molasses... but have not understood much beyond that. The ladies are 1/4 larger then pictured and I will have pics to follow this evening. Thank you all for the help.

molasses is usually to feed microbes in the soil which, in turn, feed your plants. molasses is also a chelating agent. Has some magnesium, potassium and other good stuff in it too.

Epsom salt is used as a magnesium supplement.

Got pretty hot today, so i added some dry ice to my water to help cool it down and boost some Co2 to the ladies. Doing new nutrient mix today with molasses and Epsom salt. Not sure what the ratio for each should be, but I am sure I can find a recipe on RiU somewhere. Thanks for the wise words Fresno : )
