Are hps lights better for growingand flowering or are T5 better

T5's..12's envirolites are ok to veg..you can flower with them too, but if you can..no hands down, I'd use mh for veg & hps for flowering.. the fact is more strong light means bigger denser buds and a definite better outcome, so you can use the cheaper fluros for early veg then power up......

me personally i use both.
HPS can veg and flower.
CFLs can veg and flower.
CFL's are better at vegging. HPS are better at flowering. if u have the money get both. if not, then which ever u want. i went with CFLs because its less elec bill and less heat.
HPS produces better bud in flowering. so for the best alternative. CFL's to veg, then HPS to flower and u will get nice big buds etc etc
