Grow Light System on Amazon

Looking on amazon for a few light setups. Is this any good? I like the dimmable option just in case it gets too hot.

Thoughts? Suggestions?
Thanks! :leaf:
I use a 400 and 600 watt, same as your link and no problems for the price. The MH bulb included are no good IMO, I only keep them as spare.

i own this system............infact i own 2 600w from them

please listen ...........i made the mistake i am trying to get u to advoid

http://www.amazon.com/Solis-Tek-Exclusive-Digital-Ballast/dp/B0070193PU
the pic it is showing is wrong
here is the web page with the correct one and all the goodies
http://www.solis-tek.com/digital-ballasts/matrix-1000-digital-ballast.html

that ballast is the shit ..........built in timer remote control digital pulse (the lights they offer are higher lumens then the counter part have a look) ........by the way since it is digital u can Select a watt 400/600/1000 .......those dimable ballast are not good they lower the amount of power it sends tho it does not adjust .......so when u put a bulb in and use it on anything other then 100% it is doing damage to the bulb lowering the light and altering the lightwaves (since it not at 100% it not working correctly does more damage and since all the engery it needs is not passing the lumens and lightwaves are off )..........dimable is bad ..........select a watt is good

now for the hood anything will work aslong as the plug head matches ..................but u want to get yourself a cool tube or sealed hood system (they make all kinds of sizes ...........6 inch dia is the normal)
here is my fav
http://www.amazon.com/Apollo-Horticulture-GLRCTAC-Cylinder-Reflector/dp/B003QKVV04

it was a little bit more then what u posted but it will keeping working for u for years ..................my mistake was going for the cheap then getting one of those now i have 2 un used ballast here
( not going to resale them and dick someone else over with the mistake)...............so before u buy spend a day comparing and running the numbers

i'm comparing the apollo system to the ipower:
http://www.amazon.com/iPower-GLSETX600DHMWING20-600-Watt-Digital-Dimmable/dp/B005DOS0R8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1402516756&sr=8-1&keywords=600w hps grow light system

Should I get btoh bulbs or just the HPS? Is MH better for veg then switch over to hps for flower or can I just use the HPS for both cycles?
it is still a dimable ..............not a select a watt

depends on the Strain of weed u grow ...........they have several types of bulbs out there ..........u are only thinking of 2 .........the one u are missing is called a Dual Arc Bulb ...........it is a 1000w with a MH 400w and HPS 600w all in one bulb (but to run those u need a select few ballast ) matrix is one of them

they also offer other bulbs like MH with uv ......and UV bulbs

justugh,

what system do you have? the apollo or ipower?
i have 2 apollo 600w dimable ballast 1 300w led panel .......................but ipower is the same basic design
they run on percent of power .........100% 75% 50% ,,,,,,,,,,,,dimable

u want a Select a watt ..........this means it is designed to run the light bulb at that watt 400/600/1000 watt bulbs

i also own that matrix i linked to u and a generic 300w led
edit ......forgot the T5 2ft 8 bulb and bag and bags of CFLS

i ran the 2 600 w at the same time in the same tent one with a HPS and one with MH ....4x4 tent
then this was about 150k lumens maybe 153k for 1200w

now i run that matrix i linked u on a 1000w with one of their bulbs (the lumen output is 150k) for 200 less watts less amps less wires less plugs

i was going to convert the 600w into veggie only and go to 400w so i started looking and doing the work
1 when u lower the bulb power u are sennding it tho at less and the wire/conections are getting woren out since not going on 100% and just humming
2 when u lower the power in the bulb u are lowering the engery at witch the gas in the bulbs are getting so it is not burning correctly and not making the right lightwaves

so in short u are turning a 10,000 hour light bulb into about 7 500 hours (it saids 20,000 hours this is correct but as the bulbs get to the half way point their lumens drop so most pro growers take those bulbs out replace with new ) and since u are running it at part power the bulb takes damage i figure 25% reduction in life

ya i think i'm gonna go with the Apollo 600W. should i get both bulbs..hell why not its only $5 difference to get the extra bulb. Should I use the MH fro veg then hps for flower?
how much rise in tempertaure will i see. 10 degrees? my room now is about 70.

Mh for veggie ............temp raise not that bad but unless u have a exhust point at the ceiling and a intake at the bottom somewhere with a high a cfm fan the heat is going to build up 20 degrees 25

HPS for flowering ............your fucked this is 70% IR light u really need a cooltube and ducting system other wise get a 14000 btu AC in the room and get ready for a 120 buck a month more on the power bill

I'm using a large fan for my cooling system (2x2 fan)...going to add 1- 2 more. I have a hole in my wall that should let out excess heat.

the size of the fan does not matter it is the amount of cubic feet of air it moves a min ...........a 6 inch fan made for this stuff moves 400 cfms (cubic feet a min)

your going at this half assed man it is going to blow up in your face u will spend more money tring to jerry rig a fix then u would if u do it correctly

what is the size of the room .............LxWxH
to do it correctly u do L x W xH then devide that by 3 ..............u need to have atleast that much CFM for healthy plants

now the air .........that exhust air u need to dump it somewhere that will not return back into the system (attic outside somewhere) it will be hot and stinky

to combat the stinky u would use a carbon filter ................to get a carbon filter the CFM on the filter and the CFM on the fan need to match .......ie a 400 cfm filter can not be used with a 240 cfm fan (it will work but not correcly and u over all life with it is shorten since all the carbon is not being used )

justugh,

My room size is: 8L x 4W x 8H. Don't think i need a carbon filter. Smell shouldn't be an issue. The duct and fan should work fine. I'll add carbon if smell does somehow become an issue.
The duct will run into the room outside. Its ok if it smells like weed.

Dimmable and select a watt are just two different names for the same thing. Dimming a bulb does alter its spectral output, but not very much.

Actually, the filter will last longer and work better.

no
dimable means it has one set power and u can lower it
select a watt is just that select a watt .............100% of 400 or 600 or 1000 no dimming
