How much should I trim before flower?

Oh. I was under the impression that the debate was about defoliation during flower and that article seems to be only during veg. Which defoliation durig veg makes sense, during flower, not so much.

Well yeah that's what my personal beliefs are, the whole thing started with a dude asking if he should do a little trim before putting them into flowering lol hence the title of the thread wasn't aware of the hot debate it was going to start. Now that you have said it makes sence you better be prepared for all the defoloation haters lol

Also every single person has argued the 'negative' effects of it lol haven't had anyone agree but I simply believe majority of people post haven't even tried it or ever read about it and just wana throw there 2cents in and go along with the rest of the crowd its the easy way to live life I guess :-)
Dude, i said i tried it before. I read the same thread about the 32" plants or whatever and i did it myself. Not in flower but in veg. And i grew a clone from that plant the next time without removing a leaf and i had probably a third, if not more, bud the second time around and it was a shorter time to flower the second time because i wasn't making it recover by ripping off leafs...

Sheesh

Its has also been proven by growers with 30+ years experience that it is extremely effective, maybe your doing it wrong because I have always had higher yields by correct prunning and defoliation methods I'm not arguing the point anymore like I said if your techniques work for u stick to it man there is no right way to grow pot everyone has there own methods I'm not saying your wrong or I am right I am simply saying I have have positive results from my methods so have a lot of other people goodluck with all your grows

So was I. There was a lot of talk about fan leaves shading buds etc..... no buds in veg.

Lol well the title of the thread is How much should I prune BEFORE flowering....I know light directly on buds makes no difference was saying letting light into the lower leaves to increase all over light capture and circulation

I think my last question may have gotten lost in the SOC (sea of comments) :)

I am leaning towards playing it safe and removing 4 of them, and raise 6 of them. On the ones I cut, can I take the tops as clones? I heard conflicting comments about this too.

Until then, any more input is certainly welcomed and appreciated.

Well yeah they do usually put on an exponential growth spurt going into flowering sometimes doubleing in size, do any have definate pre flowers yet? If you have a room for cloning why not just put the plants your taking out of your flower room into there? I usually keep a few mother(female) plants going in just a little fluro set up running 24/7 just to keep them in veg and grow clones from them then I always have females to bud, but Yeh if your going to clone you can generally get a fair few clones off each plant, but I would just keep the plant :-) if your going to remove some check for pre flowers and keep the defiant females in flower room or keep one for clones if you want to continue strain

You can certainly top them to take clones, but just keep in mind that the plant will become bushier if you're worried about room in your tent

I don't know if this has been said, but you are going to have an absolutely overgrown, crowded clusterfuck if you try to flower all ten of those plants in a 4x4 tent. Keep in mind that they will more or less double in height AND width within the first couple/few weeks of bloom.

I would venture that you'll end up with the SAME quantity of BETTER quality product if you only flower 4-5 of those plants instead of all 10.
I want to thank you for initially bringing this up. I think I found a solution - and the lives of 4 sexy ladies will be spared...!!

I have a 2 x 1.2 x 6 cabinet that I am going to move in the room. I don't know why I didn't think of it before but something Cann.i.blis said that got me thinking. I can move a shelf or two, add some reflective material, rearrange some things and I can have two levels to veg them in while the others flower.

Now that I can buy some time, and there will be less in the tent - I would like to top them and give them something to do for 55 days.

Thank you for sparking the idea that helped me to solve this problem! This is the ideal solution, these will be ready for flower when the others finish - I'll just have to time out the clones to keep the cycle going.
