On the other hand, some people in the countryside have no idea about internet and modern technology, and don't seem to need it, as they reject most of western culture's elements. Interestingly enough, this kind of communities have different concepts on happiness, wealth and time, but I wouldn't know about a culture being "happier" than other.
Good points and point of view, it's a whole different view when you're in a 3rd world or "poorer" country. I've been fortunate to travel a lot and found people with the least tend to appreciate "things" more, it's a different perspective than someone who's had it all, and have never know any different. I was born and lived in a 3rd world country until I was 9, when my kids were around that age I took them there to visit family that was still around at the time. They both tend to appreciate things more, even though they've had it relatively easy all their lives, they still remember and talk about how cool it was that even though my relatives didn't have a lot of the "stuff" (even basic services like power in some areas) we're accustomed to, they were content with what they had and appreciated the things my kids would take for granted more. Happiness can be different than contentment, both are an individual thing more than general/cultural, some people can be miserable and may never be content, regardless of what they have or don't have. I think that has to do with how the individual sees the glass, half-full, or half-empty, it's all about perspective and attitude...

Generation X ... heroes range from J. Page, S.R.V., Prince, to Cobain. There is no 'why me?' in my generation.
That's bullshit. There's only evolution.

I can't wait to sell my business and retire. I'll be living simply because I don't need alot. Good nights sleep, good coffee, awesome shower, beautiful garden to tend, take a nice bike ride, awesome lunch, afternoon nap, cocktail hours, good dinner and some vajaja at bedtime. Plus weed all day. I mean, who could be that relaxed without it?

I think your genration descriptions are very US based. We live in a globalized world but thanbkfully not that globalized. I really see strong resemblenses though, especially when thinking of the more developed european countries. Nice thread by the way.

i agree, with that ^^^

i feel the standard of old people has diminished (60+)

when i was young, old people (grandparents) had stories , many of them
when the bombs were dropping they would run after them to see who would get blown up
they were tough as old boots .. self reliant

old people these days are useless cunts from the swinging 60s wannabe hippy generation
soft as fuck,
they still smell funny but have no stories

AHAHAH I have to admit youre kinda bang on it. expcet it could be interepreted you needed to be a crazy cunt and have some germans drop bombs on your backyard to be a cool pensioner.
But ye youre right, generaly speaking. Also british old hippies are annoying, but fuck me they have so many contacts for bush and hash. I remember back when there were more troops being sent to afghanistan i smoked some absolutely unreal hash that the soldiers were bringing. I mean unreal! Even the commercial stamp branded stuff was above average.

Come back to the drum and bass thread to drop some classic heaviness! Its just me and dyno mostly going sick at jump up and some jungle, we need your oldies mate! Dont abandon!

Baby Boomer.

I am refusing to grow up. So even though I am a mere 2 days younger than dirt, I will fight growing old with all that is within me.
I would honestly hate to be born in this generation and have to fight what is to come. The generations of tomorrow are in for one helluva ride.

Peace

I saw a really cool documentary about longevity. It's focus wasn't about living longer, but living well. I mean, we're living longer than ever in this country but at what quality? If you can, check it out. The beginning is kinda slow, but it picks up and is pretty cool.

It's about an hour. You can watch it here:
