5 out of 5 Males....

I germinated 5 Jillybean by TGA and vegged for damn near 9 weeks before flipping about 10 days ago...and I'm pretty sure they're all male. I know so many folks post pics but...I just want more opinions before I chop all of them and waste almost 11 weeks of time, effort and money. Seriously miffed.

Yeah looks like males. Dont feel too bad I had 9 males from 9 seeds that germinated. It happens just keep moving along or go with fems.

I wouldn't say they are so much better just depend on what you are looking for. You can make your own crosses and its more of the natural way with male/female seeds.

Fems are good for people not wanting to deal with males and or limited space among other reasons. Some breeders just do regs so its all boils down to what you want to spend your money and time on.

Finish them out and harvest pollen, I wouldn't be too upset, you could be more upset down the road after you chop em ALL down, trust me.

those look all male. what temperature were the seeds germinated? of all the beans ive popped, ive only had one time where ive gotten over 40% male, that was when I got 8 out of 8 (3 different strains/breeders) males germinating on a heating pad set at 80 degrees. I now keep my germ temp below 72 and average 1, maybe 2 males out of 10 beans.

Had this happen to me not too long ago. There are methods you can use to promote increased female to male ratios with reg seeds. Starting with the third set of true leaves or roughly the third and fourth week from sprout try for: high N, lower temperatures, higher humidity, lower potassium, more blue spectrum light. Any stress during this period may also increase your odds of getting males. Increased vertical space for root growth may also aid in increased females from seed. The sexual type of a seed may be predetermined but the expression of that sexual type is subject to environmental conditions.

That happened to me many years ago
I'm sure if you use regular non fem seeds.....you run the risk of this happening but don't let it stop you. I personally don't like fem seeds.
I'm using seeds that I produced 3 years ago by crossing God bud with reeferman grapefruit from my first seed order

As several members have already said, they are boys my friend. Move them somewhere away from your grow area and finish them out bro. All plants have a purpose. Its up to us to figure out how to best utilize it. Its not too late to get a few Feminized beans and start over. Good luck to you. Peace

Yeah id say there males as well. Fuckin sucks brah and I feel for yah but I would also suggest continuing them and making the best of the situation.
seedy weed or make some hash/oil. Be better than wasting all that time and money to just chop them all down

9 weeks of nutes...wasted... i feel for you as nutes are not cheap!!! unless you're doing soil, then forget about it and dont worry lol,. but that time...at least you learned something!

There are two schools of thoughts, 1) seeds have pre-determined gender..... 2) the environment has an influence.

I believe the environment theory says that higher humidity (70%) and cooler temps (75-78F) can influence the plant to become female

So the question could be, was your environment on the warmer side with low humidity that could influence males?

On the other side of the coin, I bought 20 assorted seeds from a breeder which were just a "random mix & match" of all their seeds (not bag seeds)

90% matured to males, so I wonder if these low priced seeds or "freebie's" are seeds with the male appearance.

i feel your pain. i had 8 out of 10 males from my pack of jilly bean. i was quite annoyed by this only because i usually have a very good ratio and end up with extra females.

i had 2 females both different phenos and both were pretty good smoke. so i took the strongest smelling male and hit up both girls. the beans are untested, but i have enough that i will not buy anymore jilly bean.

If you're going to go the regular seed route germ 30 at a time or so and then pick one female and start cloning

That is fascinating, and something I've never heard before. I typically get feminized seeds because of the limited space/time factor; that said, I've always had crap luck with Jillybean. My Jillybean seeds have never even germinated and I've tried 5 or 6 of them.

I have a shit load of bag seeds I brought home from Mexico, so I'm thinking of doing an experiment to determine if gender can be influenced or if it's pre-determined

Create one grow room with the perfect female conditions, and another room with conditions indicative of males.

Then put the female seeds in the male room, and the male seeds in the female room.

If the results are consistent, then one should know if the environment can influence gender or not
