Almost EVERY single business is susceptible to insider shannagins. I've seen it hundreds of time in the CCTV business. What I've seen employee's do is insane. Even when they know they are on recorded video....really. It would blow you away.

I worked as a document handler for years for a printing company. We had cameras everywhere and even a vault to store certain things since we were dealing with other companies financial records and sensitive information. And it's true, all that video never gets watched, hell we had one guy that robbed the main cash register one night, cameras didn't stop him because he knew all the angles of the video footage. They really are a false sense of security, much like locking the doors on your car. They only keep honest people honest, criminals will always be criminals and some cameras and locks won't change or stop that.

All very true. The difference in this case is that this is not a printing company, and any employee that would have access to areas containing plants or final product has to pass an extremely in-depth security clearance check. You submit fingerprints, and everything about yourself: work history, personal history, list of all past residences, etc. This security clearance application is looked into by the RCMP and CSIS over a period of months, and every detail is verified. Any errors or unexplained gaps and you are denied. Any past charges and convictions and you are denied. Any associations with known or suspected criminals and you are denied.

There will always be potential for employee dishonesty in any business, but not enough is being made of the security screening for LP jobs. The entire purpose of the screening is to weed out criminals and dishonest people.....anyone without a squeaky clean history is not getting through the security screening, it's that simple. Also, LP's themselves are going to take this extremely seriously and will be monitoring things extremely closely. With the extremely strict tracking requirements, everything is weighed (and confirmed by a second party in many cases) every step of the way. Seeds, leaves, root mass, trim, etc. Dry weights, wet weights, the whole nine yards. If even a few grams were to go missing, it would be noticed very quickly, and all video associated with that batch would be examined. LP's put in an enormous amount of work and capital into getting licensed, and they aren't going to let a thieving employee jeopardize that.........these aren't regular companies with a few cameras up to prevent employees from getting sticky fingers around the cash register, these companies can lose their license with a single incident and there is far more at stake.

I really do not see employee theft ever being a major issue. The vast majority of LP employees are already patients, likely get heavily subsidized meds as a perk of their jobs, and now find themselves working their dream job and getting paid very well to work with marijuana all day. Why on earth would anyone risk all of that just to pocket a few grams? It's not like you are going to be able to walk out the door with pounds at a time.

Even if employee theft ends up happening, it's not going to be Kgs or product.
We're not suddenly going to see 50% of an LPs supply disappear and hit the black market.

If the product hits the black market it will likely be through people who get prescribed for 5+ grams a day and only use it recreationally - that's quite a bit they could potentially order for "friends and family".

Can't keep everyone honest.

That i can agree with, the extreme medical patients should be allowed personal grows or something like that. But for everyone else that doesn't need large amounts all day, the LP system with some good companies is nothing to complain about, better than buying off the street any day.

well I hope it works that you can grow a limited # of plants. don't think it will be a lot, like 6-10. then you will bitch that its not enough. they don't allow you to make pills and just cause you all got a chance before to grow don't mean it was right. I think if you are allowed to grow you need to be inspected, regulated and rules enforced.

Does Health Canada come and inspect the beer that people brew at home? Or send food inspectors to look at your vegetable garden?

Where did you see the word "only" in my post? We were talking about the extreme cases so I am referring to them, at the very least they should be allowed to grow because their quality of life depends on it infinitely more than other people who are using it more casually compared to them. Don't add words into my mouth For anyone else, whether they choose to grow it or buy from an LP will depend on their own cost benefit analysis, is it worth their time to grow or is their time worth enough that they'd rather buy it from an LP? Same as whether you want to brew your own beer or go to the liquor store.

Well I guess I was assuming any such factors that an individual person cares about will be accounted for in their own analysis. For people that have strains they have bred themselves and know to be the best for their ailments, for sure it will be the most beneficial option compared to buying more generic strains from LP's.

why wouldn't you have to have testing and rules to follow. patients are not above the law or rule system! if mmj or cannabis was legal like the veggies and beer or not under a drug class then we wouldn't be here arguing simple things. but MJ is 100% illegal, and the system had gapping wholes that needed filled, don't hate the L,P, hate the scum who abused the system and fucked the patients, by unloading for bills and rent and smokes and profits and i can bet a few of you sold it out the back door also. so your all not perfect in any way. and you will sell illegally if you also were allowed to grow in the future.

WOW, way to make assumptions. Ignorance knows no boundaries as they say. True colors are now showing. I've noticed that almost all your posts have been against a comment that express patients views or concerns about the new system. Clearly you don't come off as being in favor of the patients, simply going through your last 30-40 comments shows this. Also, given at how upset you seem to get from patient backlash, I'd say you must have a vested interest of some sort in the new system.

So quick to make outlandish assumptions about patients selling. Must get exhausting trying to hold up that broad brush you're painting people with. Let's just assume everyone with an automobile license has probably or will probably drink and drive while we're at it, because you know..... a few bad apples and all that. Any system will have offenders, absolutely. But the abusers of the old system were never the people it was designed for. So if I understand you...a patient that grows only for himself should have to follow the same regulations as an LP that grows for a thousand patients?

If you knew me you would know that I endorse the MMPR, I don't hate LPs. I also want a grow your own program to run concurrently.
I will sell illegally if allowed to grow in the future?....Uh I grow now under MMAR extension DDPL and I don't sell anything....so no clue where that comes from.
