Any violence in the Old testament was because of tribes which were eating ones children and mating with animals, which came into contact with the Holy tribe of Israel which GOD dwell. The glory of the LORD would appear to them. Israel kept the Holy Scripture, the scripture in THE HOLY BIBLE today. Israel still followed the Laws of thou shalt not Kill but THE LORD ordered this so the Scripture would remain. We Have all the Scripture now, and our GOD CHRIST now GOD will decide when Judgment happens.
