Winterizing in California....

Hey everyone..
Would it be terrible if I used everclear 151 or iso91% to winterize?
I am in CA and would like to do this with whats immediately available around me....

You can order 190 everclear in CA. If your going to use iso the nnsylvania get 99% id steer away from 151 way to much water in it.

Everclear in my opinion is the better choice. More polar, non-polar which ever, but precipitates out waxes better. Pure Ethanol is great but costs like $50 for 16oz.

go for the highest proof clean ethanol you can find if you cant get good iso or 95%. Yea a little more water to evap, not really a big deal

what do you have against iso?
it's completely clean, safer than butane. cheap. it's polarity allows more terpenes and a higher range of medicinal compounds. this also keeps it from pulling waxes but cleaner than qwet. it's pretty close to the perfect solvent for a single wash

Why do YOU jump into people's business? Members were discussing iso in CA and I simply gave some info on where people in CA could find it. I would rather mess with iso than extract the way you do in your "sanitary" garage that is shown in your video. Really kinda gross, no glove no shoes and filthy equipment and surroundings. You need to worry about yourself before you try and tell others what is right or wrong. Get over yourself.

Isopropyl is a disinfectant. Ethanol is a food for human consumption w the intent to eat. The denaturing products in isopropyl mean that the very last drops of water are also denatured. The residues must be completely evaporated so the extract isn't anymore funky than god intended it to be.

Seems like someone with the skills that you supposably have would have no problem at all with raising enough capital to upgrade your equipment and could easily become well established and successful. So where's the problem? Because it's obvious from your videos that you work with substandard equipment plus the fact that your always asking for investors. It doesn't make any sense to me. Like I said, maybe its time for you to start taking care of yourself and stop worrying about what others are doing.

Denatured alcohol is another name for "Methylated Spirits". Denatured alcohol is ethanol, (usually 95% alcohol/water), with trace amounts of methanol, methyethylketone, and isopropanol added (< 3-4%)

Rubbing alcohol is iso(normally, but can also be ethyl) that is made from a special denatured spirit and is only about 70% alcohol. But not all isopropyl is rubbing alcohol.

Neither of these are used in QWISO

Those are the only two suppliers that I've researched, but I'll bet there is someone somewhere close to the middle.

If you get 190 proof, it will all work. We typically use Everclear or Clear Springs, which just says distilled from grain.

Still a large water content. 5% is a lot of water. Get 200 proof undentatured ethanol. Food grade as I taken a shot of it, burns like hell and I feel a capful, is available to California residence to be delivered from ebay. Sierra Chemical Co has it, but the shit costs $119 a gallon, which is what a gallon of ever clear will cost, but w out the large water content. 5 gallons for $370 is a way better deal, but easily justifies grams costing $50-$80. I love that stuff. Such a sweet tasting end product. You'll thank me later.
