Plants Curling Up - Don't think it's heat stress

The term lock out is from PH...

When PH is not correct, it locks out certain nutrients being available to the plant.

Salt build up is salt build up. IT can be so built up that it would effect PH and cause certain nutrients availability to be locked out.

Get it?

It's not that you're old school, it's just that you're wrong.

Actually salt build up does create *lock out*. The plant chooses to eat nothing rather than toxic levels of nutrients built up in the media.

So go back under your bridge with your B buds

I am old school and lock out has always meant to me that the Ph is too acid or too Alkaline and some nutrients are in the soil but the Ph of the soil won't make them available for the plant to take them out. but I have read that in Hydroponic growing people have said you can get a lock out from to high of salt build up in the water? I have no idea if that is true since I only grow in soil. Salt build up in soil will cause burning but I have never heard that it ties up the nutrients..

I also just found that soils high in salts will hinder the plant from taking up water and most likely nutrients as well. Soils are very complicated at times. I by no means no it all but I try and keep an open mind other wise you will never learn anymore then what you already know.
If you ask most educated people about soil lock out they are going to think you are talking about the Ph of the soil and how it locks out the nutrients.

AGGGGHHHHH PH!!!

Make this simple. Ditch your current nutrients and go with the most simple and best pot food around.....Jack's Classic 20-20-20 that can be found at most nurseries. It's $10 and will last many months. Mix 1/2 tspn to a gal of water and feed daily.

I do think it is funny how many people way over think the growing process.. this one is in a one gal. pot and has been fed with miracle grow and super bloom.

Im a hydro guy, and if your ec gets too high tye plany wont uptake water and will act just the same as if it was bone dry on a 98° day.

If you do some research on the term lockout, you will see its widely used for a variety of situations. Humbolt put it best, word games.

Lockout is a the term for a plant not taking up nutrients because of any sub optimal condition hindering nutrient and water uptake.

yes this is true but a Nute line designed for pot will give a much superior plant. (depending on the line, there are shitty ones for pot also)

in the 80's my parents used miracle grow on there plants also due to there being no such thing at the time grow nutes for Pot specifically, they also used guano's also.

in your pic you can see that the nuts level is a little strong thou , i can see a little burn and slight claw at the end of your leaves.

thats Shitty soil.

and soil is actually quite simple.

I won't touch miracle grow... not even for my house plants or veggies or anything else.

As for HydroMD... whatever it takes for you to feel better about being wrong, pal. IF you do a little research, and look up the term Lock-out, in most cases you will be shown a small color chart in which it shows nutrient availability and lock out at different PH's.

Thanks for playing.

Nutrient lockout happens when your plant can not access specific, or all nutrients in the growing medium, this is due to a chemical reaction within the medium/solution which prevents nutrients from being absorbed by the roots.

Aged nutrients can precipitate in the bottle, causing some of the ingredients to become solids or even evaporate, the same problem may also occur in the growing medium.

Lockout will display the same symptoms as nutrient deficiency; to help control this problem dispose of old liquid feed containers as you would old medicine and use fresh nutrients from a bottle that has been recently opened.

The following points can also be responsible for nutrient lockout.

PH is incorrect or fluctuates.

Single pack hydroponic solutions.

Salt build up.

A chemical reaction between 2 or more nutrient
solutions that are mixed together.

For acute deficiency symptoms caused by toxicity and nutrient lockout a first Aid program should be immediately administered.

Step 1)
Leach the plants roots and growing medium using a professional leaching agent to thoroughly leach away metals, calcium, sodium, chlorides, sulphates and many other compounds, which can build up in the growing media.

Step 2)
Feed with 1/4 strength high quality complete plant food mix along with a high quality vitamin B-1 product such as Superthrive (1 drop per gallon).

Took this from a post mogie made a while back. Might clear some things up for you franklin. ph lockout and nutrient lockout are two sperate things, but BOTH are considered lockout.

If you were a bud, youd def be an indica... you dense son

In a word......bullshit. I'll stake up my $10 general nutrients against any pot-specific nutes.

what does "claw" mean. Keep in mind this is a auto flower that is at the end of it's life so she does not look really happy like she did when she was younger..
as I am sure you all know, these plants are annuals and die at the end of the flower period.. Sad I should say I think she is a auto flower since she started flowering even while getting 16-17 hours of light a day and while only a month or so old..

I could be wrong here but I think the prob. is Hydro is talking Hydroponics here and lordaddict is asking questions for growing plants in soil, as you can see by his photo in the first post..

Yeah, I quit reading forever ago, subject got way off topic and turned into a battle of who's right and wrong..
