Marijuana Growing Software.

Hey everyone,

I'm currently working up plans on creating an intuitive program that will take you through an entire process of growing, treating, curing plants from the time they're a seed to when we're cutting the branches down. The software will be composed of an easy to use interface, step by step procedures to growing the pot and how to maintain it and keep those buds going strong.

I will be doing most of the coding through Cocoa, and will be made primarily for Mac Os x. Now I understand that most people use PC's. If you are willing to port it over to PC, then I will be willing to take all the help I can get.

Speaking of all the help I can get, I'm high as shit sitting on my couch posting this. I need help, if you're a master of growing, message me on here or shoot me an email if you are interested in helping out with the project.

Thanks.

What do you need to know?

Do you plan to publish this software for sale?

are you just some 18 year old kid stoner who think they can get rich, or do you actually have capabilities to create a quality product and connections to have this become a reality?

Are you a procarstinator?

What do you do for a living?

What is the Business Plan for your product?

I am in no way shape or form trying to make a profit off of this software. It will be simply something that I make to help myself learn every possible thing, every variable and fact about growing marijuana that I can. It is also a way for me to learn to be a better programmer.

I am currently working as a technician at my local Best Buy ;).

My business plan: find a partner that is equally as interested in this concept as I am, and hopefully that have some ideas to throw around with me as to what we can and want to do with this.

Procrastinator? Depends.

This website is 10x whatever you could come up with, your software is just simply the online equivalent of Jorge Cervantes "Grow Bible", whereas this website can provide you real time, live group concensus regarding the most up to date proven methods of Cannabis Propagation.

If you really want to learn how to grow POT, just start asking questions about anything and everything you would like to know.

I will answer anything you can throw at me and no software needed.

Shoot away.

While a great idea, I will have to agree with Ganjagodess; this forum will provide 99% of any question you might have. You can learn from other mistakes, learn new ways of growing, and most important people with experiance willing to take the time to help you out.

You sort of hit the head on the nail when you mentioned Jorge's Grow Bible. This would be basically that, but in an easier, input/output data analysis program. For example:

You begin the software by inputting the strain, # of plants, type of light, etc..

The software monitors certain things each day; height, color, nodes, leaves, etc.

Basically the more I thought about it, I think that a database would need to be created for any & all seeds that are out. Different lights, all different setups.

The software would then take the results from the database, match up the system that you have setup, and spit out information that you should know, things to watch out for, best possible yield, recommended actions to fix problems.

Basically... like the grow bible, but in software form =)

An 'E' version of a grow book (PDF) with hyper links and ultra quality pics.

Software? Outside of a few calculator widgets, don't see a need.

But if you are going down this route, think REALbasic. Does cross platform, Win/Mac/Linux. Or just GCC.

(so I'm not the only Mac boy here)

There are way to many variables and unknowns to make something like that concise and completely accurate. The best you could hope for is a generalized guide. But I think it would be an exercise in futility to try to cover every single scenario or possibility. Not putting your idea down or anything, but I have to play devils advocate.

Make a game, like an extremly updated version of "high grow" Software to teach is a bt unessacary but mak a game of it and it could be fun, and i promise that if you make it free i won't pirate it i swear.

How do you pirate something that is free? :peace::D

It would take a vast amount of time just to harvest the data your suggesting. And rkm is completely correct, even if you had harvested every scrap of data it's almost impossible to cover all of the variables and unknowns and apply it in the needed amount of flexibility to simulate reality. The best I've seen is high grow and even that program can only go so far.

Give it a fastforward button, unlike "High Grow"... and different ways of planting, i.e., soil, DWC, aeroponics, ebb n flow, etc. along with fimming.

Get'r done...

come on people don't dog his idea... You know you would play it even if it wasn't 100% perfect. I believe it would teach more of general techniques not specifics.

yeah exacly alot of us would "PLAY" but it would have to be a game first, maybe to keep it simple you could specify the grow room conditions ahead of time, or offer multiple rooms like levels each room could have specific objectives. that way you could keep it fun and set alot of the variables ahead of time, that would have to make it easier to cade right?

Sure, for a game that would be fine, outside of a game and using as reality, doubt it. One of many examples of limitless variables would be soil/medium. How would he conceivably gather appropriate data for each kind of soil that exists? Then he would have to deal with the unknown of whether the soil was consistent from one lot to the next from the manufacturer.

RKM your going to deep. You expect too much (especially from freeware), go smoke a bowl and relax. Have you tried High grow? It is simple and doesn't go all crazy like your talking about. It is a very good tool to growing with out the use of costly supplies and time. I grew a round or two on High Grow before I attempted my first grow. I would say it taught me a lot about the basics. Of course it didn't teach me everything, but something is better than nothing.
