Transplanting Too Early?

I have 2 gallon pots and want to flower in 7 gallon pots.. I pulled one of the plants out of the 2 gallon pot and it was only root bound 25% of the way to the top. Is it ok to still transplant them? I want to start flowering soon.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I think you should be ok to go ahead. It sounds like it doesn't have to bad of a root system.

You need proper temps and enough daylight to keep it from flowering.
You can google daylight hours for your area.

Oh yea? As long as the roots are 25% up, I can transplant and flower? You think I can flower immediately or should I wait?

I would transplant and then wait a week just to make sure there is no post transplant stress and time for roots to grip new soil then flower away !

General rule is that a plant needs one gallon of dirt for each month it is to occupy that pot. My plants are only in their large pots for 9 or 10 weeks so I rarely use anything bigger than a 3-gallon pot. If you TP into a 7-gallon pot your plant will start to grow enough roots to support a plant growing 7 months in that pot. As a result you will waste weeks while you grow roots much more larger than you need. I'd leave them in their present digs. BigSteve.

you are right bigsteve, but if he plans to scrog that bitch out ( unknown as he never said he was going too lol) a larger root system would allow for a bushier plant thus making a better scrog if im not mistaken.... ??

I think you would be ready to transplant right when you see roots popping is best so you don't compact the loose roots in transplant, but don't think it would have much diff in hydro? Good Luck and Happy Growing

When I transplant my plants sort of stall in growing above the soil while it makes a new home in the larger container. Once the plant starts showing growth again I assume it's good to go for 12/12 or more veggin'.

a scrog is just a form of LST... a scrog net can be made for fairly cheep .. look it up it may be something you want to try. and don't worry to much about the gallon per month rule .... I see that only as a guide for extended veg time. if your going to transplant and go to flower you will be fine.

Great thanks! Does the plant have to stay completely still during the entire flower doing scrog? Do they make nets you can buy at the store? The plants are definitely super bushy

no you still have a fan blowing on them to keep the air moving. Yes most grow shops will have a net you can buy but you are far better off to make one of your own. You can custom make it for your space. I will have to set mine up and take a picture of it. But all you really need is PVC pipe, a few fittings some screws and string... very simple and a great way to up your yield !

Im confused about watering in 3 gallon post. I transplant to 5gallon containers prior to flip.
By about week 5 im Watering daily. With threes would I be watering multiple times?
Or would I cut back on pearlite and add vermiculite
