Supercritical CO2 extraction

Yeah that's what I figured too but dang I didn't think it goes to that high of a pressure. Very cool, make sure you take lots of pics and videos for us! How the hell do you put the material into the tanks anyways?? Does the top of the tank come off or something? Very excited to see your kit doublejj!

You fill the scuba tank with your material & attach the specially modified fitting & hose. Attach the other end to your big CO2 tank. Place CO2 tank onto hotplate and heat to near boiling point = Supercritical CO2, it's neither a liquid, gas, or solid, it becomes "Supercritical" dense vapor.....

One of the things that make CO2 extraction so attractive is it's 'exclusivity' of extractions. Different compounds are extracted at different temp/pressures. This is how CBD's are extracted. CO2 will stay supercritical for a broad temp range, so different elements can be extracted by targeting with temp/pressure ranges. The most aromatic compounds & terpenes are in the more delicate lighter oils. The first extraction pass is made at lower temp to collect these. Subsequent passes are made at higher & higher temps to collect heaver oils with their THC & CBD.....
That's how CBD oil has little THC, taste or smell...

did you guys check out jynindustrys new co2 open blast tube with the titanium tension rods?

I've tested out his scuba tank system, which certainly works for home extraction, and know he builds more elaborate systems using pumps, which I haven't played with.

The owner, John, is a personable fellow and more than helpful, so recommend checking him out.

What is he calling his new system with the Ti tensioning rods?

PS: We experimented up to 3800 psi with the system he loaned us, and are looking forward to the loaner from Apeks, which will allow us a higher solvent exchange rate at lower temperatures and higher pressures. We hope to preserve more monoterpenes, and extract less undesirables.

Would you have any info. about what compounds are extracted at what pressure and temp. ???

Links are appreciated

THANKS

No, not exactly, just what I've picked up, reading & talking about CO2 extractors. However I do plan to take some samples of each of the different runs to the lab & have each tested. It will tell me a lot. I'll probably lab test the first couple of runs just for baseline info. I'll be happy to post the results. That should tell us.......

FedEx will delver CO2 extractor on Friday.
I just ordered 1000 syringes........

We've struck gold!......
The SFCE supercritical fluid CO2 extractor arrived yesterday. We tried it out today. We had a few bugs to work out, but finally was able to make one collection run. I'm definitely at the lower end of the learning curve, but I was able to scoop up enough to fill a vape pen & Wow, it tastes great.
Here's a pic of the kit & I'll post a few more. I love this thing, I just need to learn how to use it, but we are well on our way.:blsmoke:

ive always been jealous of you JJ, ever since you posted that 1lb bag of kief. this isnt helping.

youre definitely enjoying your retirement!!

After filling the white scuba tank with 1/2 lb dried Girl Scout Cookies buds, we were able to also squeeze in 6lbs of CO2. Then we heated it to near boiling point 80c/176f & that raised the pressure to 4000psi. We only allowed it to sit & extract for 20min, then connected the collection container and initiated a transfer& collection. We got about 3-4gr of very blond & light cannabis oil. It is supposed to take 4-5 passes to complete a run, I sure hope we do better on the rest of them. The tanks get hot as hell! Wear Gloves! And the collection tank freezes solid! lol This contraption is a trip.....
I scooped a gr into a vape pen and it tastes great. We will make more runs tomorrow & try to get the hang of it......:hump:
