Going by lumens per foot theory....

3.5*5=17.5*7000 optimal lumens(per square foot)=122,500 lumens

Going by those measures it looks as though you need a 600 watt HPS(90-95k lumens) + a 400 watt HPS(50-54k lumens).

That said you can still get good results with a HPS at 90-95k lumens
95000/17.5=~5425 lumens per square foot

Add to that a couple UVB(reptile lights) and I am sure you will produce some good bud.... just remember to send me some :)

Hey just curious, is there definitive growth/quality to be had with the addition of UVB. Don't want to thread jack so maybe I'll start a new one, or if anyone has a link to some info on UVB and bud size/quality/density, etc. :)

I suggest you watch this

it is very informative and can do a much better job explaining the manufacturing of THC than I can. Basic synopsis as I understand it is that UVB can be harmful to plants. In an effort to protect itself resin glands redirect trapped energy into disc cell to manufacture thc. Some of the manufactured THC attaches itself to the sub cuticle wall of the resin head and this is where it starts to become visible to the naked eye.

I may have explained a few steps of this wrong, but this is how I understand it... if someone else knows the process in better detail feel free to jump in.

Yeah basically as a protection the marijuana plant will build a sort of barrier much like sunscreen out of THC as it's natural barrier, so if you want some nice hash out of the leaves and lot's of THC on the bud add a UVB.

The typical percentage of THC on a plant is 10-15% and a UVB tends to add 2-3% more or so.
