So has anyone thought of different ways the new system can be abused?

I sort of started this the other day.

It will be so easy to copy a label once you have one. So as long as you're registered with an LP, you'll be alright.

The simple fact that every LP will want their own identifying label. Try keeping up with that,RCMP!

I just have a hard time believing that these huge outfits are going to be able to see everything all the time. How easy would it be to pinch a monster off and walk out the front door with it, no one the wiser?

I think Kgirl brought up the fact that there will no longer be a central registry of patients.

OK, your turn!

Ive thought about this. Realistically there arent goinna be 300 lps. Probably closer to 20 or so. Its not gonna be that hard for the police to have a list of their phone numbers to call and check your prescription. The only way I see it is if you have a registered persons name on the bottle and no id on you. But impersonation is a crime.

LP's have 72 hours to return an information request from a individual from a Canadian police force in the course of an investigation, s.101

Also, LP's have to verify the individual is actually a police officer.

In short the label verification is going to be abused.

At the end of the day this is ridiculous anyway. They want to stop diversion. What is there to stop you from selling your prescribed amount to someone? Nothing. The labels are easier to fake than the pink sheet from hc. At least when hc issued the id cards there was some kind of pathetic effort put in to try and properly identify people. But then they stopped that. Its not about diversion or a clean product its about collecting tax dollars from big business. Its bullshit.
Rant over.

3 days to investigate eh? Are patients going to be detained during these "investigations"? Are meds going to be confiscated during the investigation period? Whats the reward of busting those abusing/manipulating/frauding the system versus the risk of busting legitimate patients? What happens if they can't be verified within 72 hours, free to go? Are cops going to be scared to investigate anybody? What happens if a bunch of legitimate patients are constantly harrassed because a pill bottle is a pill bottle, basis for lawsuits? This is going to be interesting, 26 more days til the circus starts!

register with an LP ... purchase a VERY small amount of meds ... receive the prescription bottle with label....stuff it with my own meds and consider myself legal.

Say you hate your wife ( I don't, but say you do )...order something from an LP. Once you get it, spray it with some arsenic and have your wife eat it. She dies, you sue the LP.

You could say the same with any product...

Good luck trying to prove it. Each lot and batch is tested for and samples kept, just in the case of adverse reactions.

diversion by LP's or their employee's is probably the most likely, especially in regards to what weights were destroyed or spoiled or returned.
How it gets out of the building will be different for each of them.. but not impossible and they know it.

My guess is there will be no enforcement of marijuana laws other than blatant trafficking of large amounts. With Harper now talking decriminalization the cops are not going to investigate where the pot came from or whether you are using medicinally. It's not worth their time and effort just to issue a ticket.

In my neck of the woods I have noticed at times that the police do speeding ticket blitzes. At certain times of the year there are radar traps everywhere, very unforgiving attitudes for minor speed infractions.
Is this because they have to generate revenue at times? I don't know.
Can we expect new pot ticket blitzes in the future? I don't know.

Most police forces are given minmum quotas of tickets that they have to issue every month to generate revenue! This is why there is often speed traps set up places, usually near end of month or holidays, so they can make those quotas. The same thing happens almost everywhere, whether it's a rural town or major city. It's pretty messed up if you ask me.
