That has to be a typo on the potassium/potash ^^^ also those 660 oslons are doing their thing huh?? HR/DR hitting both chlorophyll a/b peaks THAT 630nm can't compare unfortunately.

Edit... this is definitely the direction I would go with a mostly "white" panel.......NW/WW + 640nm/660nm====BIG BUDS

The breeder is ..me !

No it's not a typo.... 4 - 10 - 40

Yes ..Reds ranging from ~ 640 nm up to 660 nm are THE MUST for massive flowering .
And finally yes ....
All the rest( it takes / one needs ) is just a " simple" mix of NW and WW ,
at approx . the range of 5000- 2700 K .

Yeap...

NW + WW + 640/660 RED .

The better the tech gets around these types of leds ...
The better for the rest of us !!!

Some thoughts about light quality (spectrum ) and it's particular relation to our beloved plant...

http://www.heliospectra.com/sites/www.heliospectra.com/files/field_page_attachments/poster_india_26nov08_vfinal_0.pdf

From the above :
" The wavelengths include:
365, 405, 420, 520, 620 and

735 nm "

What I 've noticed so far about our plant and leds ....
( Just a personal opinion ...take it addito salis grano -with a grain of salt added - )

360-410 nm leds : UVa -Violet ...
In a constant and stable lighting regime,I do not need to use many of these .
If at all..
Well for added aroma, taste and -maybe-potency....
Better some here and there,then.
Keep them in low power.
Otherwise their 'light' ..Well...It is stressfull enough ..
For both the plant(s) and my eyes..
And for every plastic material around..
This wl range shares some same biological / photomorphogenic effects with the blue leds.

420-470 nm blue leds : Actually I do not need these .Too powerful radiation for my plants.
Mj needs for sure a lot of blue wls .( As KNNA used to say around ~20% ,for good quality ).
Blue leds seem to "cancel out" all the 'goods' from the red leds ..

Neither I need green,yellow,amber leds ...
Too many different types and It will be a pain in the ..guh... to place them in a way ,
that they will evenly illuminate the leaf canopy ...

What I need ..
Some of the most efficient Neutral and Warm whites ..
Covering the range from ca. 5000 to 2700 K ...

-Take care the FR wls in the 2700K 95CRI WWs ...Way much ! -
-5000K NW & 3000K WW ,both of 80 CRI ,are up till now the best " white core " -
-4000K NW of 95 CRI ,can stand by themselves alone as a "white core " also_Or as a "white filler/expander "-
- 640-660 nm red leds is a must for massive flowering. The more deep reds added, the more NW should be added, also. -

Tri-phosphor whites are on the way ....
COBs are getting more and more sexy ...
660 nm Reds are also getting 'attention' from led manufacturers...

Better le-days are coming ...
I'm seeing better days ...
And leds ...
I just love growing with leds ..
It's simply awesome..
And it's getting better and better, all the time ...

An 'alternative' led growers 'Light Quality' categorization of white phosphor covered leds :

Single Phosphor 'whities' ,aka 70-75-80-85 CRI .

Simple.Blue die and a yellow or amber phosphor.
Two peaks. One blue -one and one yellow / amber (usually around 570-600 nm ).
Most efficient in output power and phosphor conversion / losses terms .

Dual Phosphor 'whities',aka 90-95 CRI.

Blue die ,green and red phosphor .
Three peaks or a a blue and a wide green-yellow-amber-red peak.
Less efficient than the whities of lower CRI but 'richer' in spectrum terms.

Tri phosphor 'whities'.90-95 CRI.

UV die ,blue,green & led phosphors .
Simply put :
A gift from God,to us ,the humble led growers !

Some thoughts about yellow light...

Something has to be there ...
Don't know what,though...

Firstly,there are a lot of 'indications' ...
The HPS ...The flowers being made ,under loads of it's yellow light ...

In the 'older days' ...
I remember some people ,
mentioning the -almost monochromatic yellow- LPS light bulbs ,
as the 'ultimate' added "flowering boost" light .

The good results from growing only with simple 3000K WW leds ..
A blue and a yellow peak ...

Secondly, the yellow light ,the insects and the flowering mechanisms of plants ...
There has to be a connection ..
Only ..I just can't figure it out ...

Something is there ...
But then again...

I'm "saganizing " ...

Weird thing though..
The plants use the part of E/M radiation ,that our vision can sense as 'light' ...
More or less ... 400-700 we see ,~360-730 the plants need/use...
So..The insects can't just have been 'left out' from the 'equation' ,can they ?

Every wavelength,every 'color' play it's role,somehow...
We can't 'flourish' in a black 'n' white world..
Plant's can't either in a red'n' blue world ..

Now,that was poetic,wasn't it ?

Good sh!t the ledborne ...

Most ppl here seem to think so. What I don't get is this:
  1. WW or NW already has more red and deep red than HPS.
  2. HPS has excellent flowering
So why is extra red or deep red needed for WW or NW.

I had so much time to see news from the [astir] company and really i was amazed with the result that I see.

Gorgeous plant sailor !
Continued dynamically..

Interesting sds. Tri phosphor huh? Read a bit about it, seems like a newer tech utilizing uv leds as a base. Available?

funny you guys should be saying all of this regarding LED chips, K colour temps, phosphor coatings an varying wavelength peaks and exactly what is best overall.. one thing i will say is this female seeds WWXBB feminised, very homogenous, odour non-existant, vegged with those eBay 50w-100w warm white cheapo LED chips.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/50w-LED-Chip-Warm-White-High-Power-50-Watt-Chip-Bulbs-Lights-Lamps-/380852520678?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item58ac9446e6 ,

Powered with laptop power supply and buck boost modules, CC and CV precise reguation, costs pennies and works a treat, and these chips "WILL" i repeat "WILL" flower good by themselves however much cheap "human viewing" green light they produce the red peak is good enough to finish.. mixing 30w warm white CFL and those eBay chips is even better.. saying that now though im using 50w cree XPG-2 modules[also eBay]which are also now cheap[£15], but im suprised more growers haven't thrown 50w-100w of generic warms at their grow as they are very cheap and perform.. "PICOGRAV" IS ANOTHER GROWER WHO SHOWED THE WAY WITH VERO COB's, AND "bbspills" WITH THE CREE CXA3050... lately i tried something new that embodies all this talk of LED's, phosphors, and "full spectrum whites".. http://vanqenergy.en.alibaba.com/product/1519888267-219231387/High_intensity_yield_100w_cob_led_grow_lights_phospher_full_spectrum_380_840nm.html:hump:

Yes ...640-660 nm red light ,is indeed a must for big-fat-thick-juicy-yummy-hard nuggets..
Mj still flowers without any of that,though..

But for massive flowering ,it is a 'must' ...
Yellow-Amber wls ,probably ,have something to do with good flowering also.
I can't get it out of my mind....

The good results from growing only with simple 3000K WW leds ..
A blue and a yellow peak ...

Trust me.
I've tried already to grow mj in different life-cycle phases, utilising both phosphor white leds and monochromatics.

One type at a time.
Before trying any combos.

From the white leds almost all NW and WW can grow mj from start till end ,with enough good results.

Cool whites while offering good vegetative stage ,they suck while flowering.
Warm Whites 2700K and of high CRI,they suck big time in veg ,they are champions for fast-finishing the flowering phase(speed up the flowering ).

From monocromatics ,only reds can grow mj from start till end.
(with poor final results.)
No other monochromatic led.

Then came the first design ...

The Astir panels....

From a friend's grow, who is using them ,to some autofems........

Astir Led Panels...
They are ugly,heavy,asian leds used ( bin? what's that ? ) ,cheap e-bay drivers..
But they do the job!

Grown with Astir ASL Led Panels.
( NW 5000K - WW 3000 K - Red 640 nm )......

Started from 48 Watts (2 panels ) ,ended using 296 Watts (at plug always).
