Iraq and Afghanistan gave you freedoms?
I used to have the BB numbers and ship names memorized, but that was too many years ago, and I forget these days. The early cold war battleship, Montana would have been amazing.I too have a thing for the BB`s. Visit BB59 Massachusetts and IX80 Constitution (that one is down the street)
Congress was convinced by ship builders and shit that looks good on paper to replace the armored platforms with that piece of shit research and development money eating Zumwalt Class. After many comments and examples of how that shit hull wont make it past a main battle tank on the beach, let alone a G5 Howitzer, they went from ordering 50 to 3. Had lots of help and the word has been heard. Now they are left clueless as to how to defend against artillery at sea. Can`t wait to see what they come out with next.
North Carolina was a busy boat. 15 battle stars, more than Big Mamma. But Big Mamma sank the French Battleship Bart. Mamma never got hit, and lost one man the whole war. North Carolina and South Dakota took beatings. But Both stayed in the war and came home to tell of the ventures. Battleships are your worst nightmare at sea. If the say jump....than jump. Do what they say or go swimming, and Pirates, well that`s target practice up close and personal.
You wouldn't believe the amount of freedoms that Korea and Vietnam has afforded us!Iraq and Afghanistan gave you freedoms?
The point of military is to defend the country from outside forces. Hence the Department of Defense. We haven't defended this country from outside forces since Pearl Harbor. The military industrial complex is now in the business of offense. I thought that was pretty damn clear these days. If you join the military in these times it's because; you've been brainwashed, you're looking to better your situation and don't care how, or you're a sick individual and you want to know what it's like to legally kill another human being. It's pretty obvious with Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya that we're there to steal resources and fuck shit up. Vietnam should have been a lesson...
Um, yes, you were talking about your military, and saying that they give you your freedoms. How did your military invading iraq and afghanistan give you freedoms? Your military didn't achieve diddly squat for you with regard to your freedoms.I was speaking about our Military,...you brought up Afghan and Iraq, as if that was my implication. Kelly frowns upon our Military, not Afghan and Iraq, but you felt the need to ask this question. You are a shit talker speaking to a roll of TP.
Awww, is someone starting to get angry and throw a tantrum?Show me these riches and resources you claim here or STFU clueless. You did type this, correct ?

I really get a boner when I think about Hitlers BB's, the H39 and God Forbid the H44.
Are you trying to say here though that we need some sort of modern BB? If so, perhaps the German WW2 pocket battleship could be a good model, because building something like the North Carolina today would be amazingly expensive.
The problem with battleships is their mode of attack is terribly obsolete. That's why they haven't scrapped a lot of these ships, theoretically they could be reactivated if we ever need to bombard a beach again. Other than that, max range is less than 20 miles isn't it?
Of course all of this might change once again when we perfect the rail gun.
I was speaking about our military,...you brought up WWII, as if that was my implication.
Let's invade Canada then. I don't trust all of them French freaks. Better to hit them now, while they aren't looking. Let's bomb Ireland, those limey leprechauns. I don't trust them.Like I said, I brought up WWII as examples of what happens when you mind your own business. It`s really tough for you to understand that you must learn from your past and it is why our military is offensive today instead of defensive like yesterday. So keep complaining that we are bringing it and not singing it.
In my opinion, none of us have privilege to the intell that would answer the questions posed by both sides.Um, yes, you were talking about your military, and saying that they give you your freedoms. How did your military invading iraq and afghanistan give you freedoms? Your military didn't achieve diddly squat for you with regard to your freedoms.
Yeah, you can put modern weapons systems on the BB, so what? Many navy ships carry them. The only need for a ship the size of an Iowa is to have big 16 inch guns. We have more effective means, and more accurate ways of sending ships to the sea floor than gun fire today. That massive platform, while so sexy, is obsolete. A couple of Burke class DDs could take out the entire USNavy from WW2.Have you overlooked the armored T-Hawk boxes on the deck of the Iowa`s ? The big guns are direct fire, the rockets can reach out and turn you to glass.
Going bigger means wider so you don`t roll because they are weatherdeck heavy. this means no canals. The Carolina class had boilers not fire-rooms like the SODAKs and lack the speed. As long as you keep kettle rooms out of the BB`s, they are very doable today. Three for the price of one Zumwalt Class.
Is that usually how you debate? Resort to middle school name-calling?Show me these riches and resources you claim here or STFU clueless. You did type this, correct ?
That was not a case of obtainning freedom. It was beating up the bully. That is against our Constitution but the Bushes found a way to make it hasppen. Kinda like the Excutive Orders Obama is useing freely today.Um, yes, you were talking about your military, and saying that they give you your freedoms. We have pinball machines and we know how to use them.Let's invade Canada then. I don't trust all of them French freaks. Better to hit them now, while they aren't looking. Let's bomb Ireland, those limey leprechauns. I don't trust them.
And in the process and as a result of beating up the bully, you're now down a whole bunch of freedoms. Smart move! That was not a case of obtainning freedom. It was beating up the bully. Do you mind beating up the bully ? Does it bother you ?
smart or stupid? what's the question? do i believe the hype? NO. would i voluntarily join? NO.I don't understand why anyone would voluntarily join a military that goes looking for conflict?
NAVY, "A global force for good." I've never seen a "force" that's good.
Who believes the hype, who doesn't?

The biggest advantage the BB has that isn't available today is a cheap way to rain down death on a beach, 16 inch HE rounds are so much cheaper than a tomahawk.
What other reasons would you have to start building a new class of BB?
