How to make pots? Give me ideas.

If I'd buy 36x 5 gallon plastic pots locally, it would cost me 150 dollars at minimum.

I figured maybe it would be cheaper to build the pots "with my own hands".

I'm thinking of buying big PVC pipes and then cutting right sized pieces from them, but that would leave my "pots" without bottoms.

How should I make the bottoms?

Seems like a lot of work for very little return. Not sure, but 8" pipe (too small) is $112 for 20 ft. at Lowes. I don't think you'll save any money.

petroleum products are just not as cheap as they used to be.... not any easy way to get around it. just take care of your pots once you buy em and treat them as the investment they are.

Awesome. Basically, I will only need the fabric and some glue, right?

I wonder how much is the fabric going to cost for that amount of pots for me.

Is there any other benefit to fabric pots? More aeration?

Yep that's all you'll need to get. You can find 50 feet rolls at Walmart (check the website too) ranging between 10 - 30$ depending on the height of it. One roll should do it.
Benefits = insanely hard to overwater. I've never used "smartpots" but from what I understand they airprune roots and it makes the root systems go nuts and spread out around the soil better. I was actually planning on doing these myself for some autos and my guerrilla bumper crop this round.
The only drawback I've read is they tend to dry out quicker.

more aeration but also requires quite a bit more watering. i tried em indoors n had to water daily in soil. not doin that again

I bought four 5 gallon smartpots and when they came I did wonder if something like that couldnt me made up somehow. This is my first run using them. I've always used plastic but I kind of like these so far.

Make friends with someone who works at a donut shop. Or just ask store managers or something. My buddy and I were able to buy like 30 of those 5 gal buckets the donut batter comes in for very cheap, lids included. They were white, but for soil that is just fine. It's sort of a stretch, but if you're dead set on buckets it may be a viable option. Do some negotiating

5-gallon grow bags = .45 cents each.
