My ion 8 has 10w American made cree LEDs in it, I am not sure about the panel LEDs they make all I know is they work good and they are really bright.

Yeah which 10w CREEs? The company I work for and myself deal with CREE on a daily basis so we know their stuff pretty good and they help us out all of the time too, so it works.

not sure 100% because I am not the manufacturer I would call lighthouse on it but on there website it says this

Lighthouse Hydro pioneered the Led grow light industry with the introduction of 3w chips in 2008. You will rarely if ever see a Blackstar in a head to head competition because they were just more powerful than the competition. If you do, it was usually with a light 2X to 3X the price. Keeping that tradition alive we are proud to introduce the first light on the planet using 6w and 10w chips. Our genuine American made Cree 10w chips are not just advertised as 10w but actually pull 10w of real power and deliver a better lumen/watt output than ANY LED in existence. Our new lights offer a concentration of LED so unparalleled, that even straight lumen output (not adjusted for PAR) is greater than HPS and MH bulbs available.

That's for the ion 8 it has 4 white spectrum LEDs that are 10w cree LEDs I am unsure of the panels they may be cree or bridgelux I would contact the manufacturer or a retailer I just use the light.

IMHO, these are all old tech with issues like lens covers (reduces lumens) which are typically cheap plastic (poor optics) and prone to fade like auto headlight covers...

Cobs/MultiChips is the way I'm going. Single chip only to replace when it goes bad, or better cobs become available. Should be super easy to swap out

Also, they come in single and double, as well as multi cobs.

Many already have some leds and want to supplement, others want the biggest dick they can afford.

I just bought 2 single multi-chip lights @ 75w. Each will go on the outside of either one or both of my all white ufo 90s during flower, taking me from ~ 232w to ~330w. I intuit that 300w will make a huge difference in a 2 x 4

Personally, I would go with 3 @ 2 cob lights 2 WW + 1 NW for a 2 x 4 tent.

You're going to need to get a second light if you use that one you just linked being it has a color temp of 6500k (blue spectrum) and will not properly flower your plants. Those are great for veg tho I have a 6400k spectrum HO T5 .

I know, the link was purely for style/design- cob/multichip/Reflectors

I have 2 ~ 75w multichip coming to add to my 3500/5000K ufo 90s during flower
