New Grow t5 or full power cfl??

I'm starting my second closet grow after my first failed attempt. I was running a dwc and lost my plant to root rot. This time I'm using coco with the same nutes I have. I just got a clone of some OG Kush today and hope I do better this time around.

Currently the cutting is under a 2 bulb 2 ft high-output t5 fixture. I also have a custom built, 260w cfl fixture (10x26w cfl). Should I let the cutting get a little bigger before using the full strength light I have? Or would the plant benefit from it right away?

I also am curious on when its time to transplant out of the solo cup?

Thanks for any input.

I cant stress enough about how great T5's are. i have a 4ft8tube Fixture thats equivelant to about 400W. got 2x Short Rider Auto-fem 2x Cali Purple fem 2x Maui Wowie 4x Jack Herer and 5x Auto-berries under this baby. my non auto's are still smaller while my Berry babies Ripen up a little then they get the switch from 18/6 Light/dark to 12/12
Also Scrog Approx 1 ft below your lamp. unless you have a heavy Sativa Stretcher, your beautiful colas wont hit the lights. Plant burn Noted from 3" away

Right on thanks!! Do you prefer scrogging to lst for a specific reason? I had good success with lst on my other plant before it took a turn for the worst, and was planning on doin the same.

looking good nice to see you back at it.
as far as the light. i use a t-8 to veg with for up to 25-30 days if my box is in flower.
your room big enough to use both lights during flower?
lst then keep topping it will make a scrog like plant.
which was the blue widow i grew.
in pic 1 can see the main stalk then all the secondary ones coming off.
i use paper clip hooked to the edge of the bucket make the canopy even
some will start to get to tall and you cannot really lst any more. that is when i start to top to keep canopy even.
good luck on the way to you first harvest.:bigjoint:

Aha tha homie!!:bigjoint:

ya I tried to save the Bruce but it was dismal. I could split my closet so I can veg and flower at the same time... Trying to get through 1 cycle fully first tho haha. I plan on using the same cfl fixture I made, just wasn't sure if that light was to strong for my cutting at this time? Would it be beneficial for me to use my t5 until I flower?

just read the plant if the leaves look stressed back the lights off an inch or 2.
i have never flowered with t 5 so have no idea but have seen some nice grows on here with t5

My bad I may have said that wrong. I have it under 250w total of cfl now. I was wondering if the less powerful t5 would be better for the cutting since it was so young. I moved it up cuz I got some seedling sprouted so they get the t5 haha

Been applying some lst and she takes to it very well. I'm going to transplant into a 5 gal pot next, probably Wednesday or Thursday.

Pics are from last night and this afternoon.

*Also im wonderin if any admins could help me change the title to something a little more general that would be awesome. Thanks.

looking much healthier this go round.
soil a bit easier?
thanks a lot!! It's definitely much easier this way. I planted in plain roots organic soil and I've been watering with just distilled water, and adding a basic compost tea to supplement the soil. I'd like to find a good "bloom specific" tea to brew so I can continue to use the roots organic, as opposed to mixing my own supersoil. I love the roots organic. I'm loving the lst also, it's becoming an art for me, not a chore haha

looks like a healthy plant...I'm curious to see how your lst'ing pays off...

Subbed. :peace:
Thanks a lot! I'm feeling good about this plant and definitely liking how the lst is goin. I'm planning on repotting soon. Not sure how big to go. I'd like my next pot to be able to hold her through flower.

I've been under the impression a bigger pot equals bigger buds...Not sure how much space you have but I'd say go for a 5 gallon minimum if you can.

I was thinking the same. My closet is a normal sized closet and it's the only plant so ill probably be able to make a 7 work if I wanted. I was thinking of a large rectangle tote drilled to drain, because I think the roots would get more room. A solid colored one so it didn't let light through as well.

Thoughts?

I know you want a solid color....no light to get through....I'm not sure if rectangular are ok or not...

I've read a lot of good things about air-pots and smart-pots....I'm going to be using the airpots for the first time shortly.

Why worry about T5 VS CFL ? They both give out the same light right ?

A Compact fluorescent bulb is just a compact fluorescent bulb... T5 is a fluorescent bulb..

You would just go for whatever puts out the most watts/lumens.. (Assuming they r the right spec/kelv rating.)

T5s may be better at spreading the light... but spreading also means lowering concentration.

different strokes I guess.
