EMERGENCY! Can I cut the roots off to eliminate root rot?

(I might be breaking the forum rules by posting a similar thread, but it isn't actually double posting as they have different content. I'm risking it. I need attention.)

Please help me to save the plants. They have root rot.

I came up with an idea - can I cut the roots off and treat them as clones? I would stick the stems into a root hormone and then into a rockwool cube and put them into a clonebox.

Do you think it might work?

These three products are basically the only ones around my town. I bought all of them.

Please help me to choose the right one before I use it!

(1) Power Zyme by Hesi (bought from the only hydro shop in town)
Enzyme extract for plants. Decomposes cellulose residues in plant substrates.
Keeps the plant substrate clean, while decomposing plant residues into dextrose.
Dextrose serves as nutrition for roots and ground vegetation. Provides an oxygen-rich plant substrate by avoiding decay.
Improves the ecological balance.
Extract of cellulase from Trichoderma.


(2) Algol by JBL (bought from one of the two aquarium shops in town)
Algicide. Solves green, brown, web, slime and floating algae problems. Without copper. Will not damage fish.


(3) Bio Nitrivec by Sera (bought from the other aquarium shop in town)
For aquarium maintenence. Decomposes ammoniac and nitrit and is a special mix of cleaning bacteria.


Which one would you use based on the product information???

I don't grow in hydro. But, I do treat my water reservoirs. I would suggest that you go w/ #2, Algol, because it seems like a "problem solver;" whereas the other two sounds like "preventatives," which you could probably use throughout your grow (after you fix the root rot) in order to prevent seeing root rot again. I also suggest you consider advice from hydro growers. But I saw that time was of the essence. One thing I know for sure, is that you need to try ONLY one of those products and then wait 2-4 days for results before trying another one of them. GL!

Dude! How come you got 3 products... 1 from Germany, 1 from UK and one from Polen/Russia x)? Sorry, i dont know how to fix your problem. But your international shoppingskills exceed mine ;)

Anzo, hydrogen peroxide and bleach both work as sterilizers which kill all living organisms. I have already soaked my roots in bleach to kill infection, but now I am looking for beneficial bacteria to maintain a healthy water. .. but I have hard time choosing one of these three products. Yes, John.. I should have ordered a product that is known to work well as beneficial bacteria, but I have an emergency situation at the moment and if I don't do it quick enough, my plants will die. I don't have time to make international orders/purchases right now. I need to find something locally and do it quick. These 3 products are it. I hope for some other people to agree on what Mr Cry420 has said. WHICH ONE OF THESE THREE PRODUCTS DO YOU RECOMMEND?

Lots of good options to go with before you decide to trim your roots.

To answer your question you can trim 1/2 of your root system, but no more then that.
Expect some stress, and a 2 week recover time.

IMO- if you didn't have the root problem, trimming your roots in hydro, can be beneficial.
Your feeding your roots nutrient solution. You roots don't need to grow long in hydro,
as they would in soil searching for food, and water. Everything the plant needs is right there in Hydro, easy to get.
(Basically topping your root system.)
