Lung room?

Can anyone send me in a direction for good information about this subject? I came across the term in a HighTimes article and they seemed to assume the reader would automatically know what it was. Thanks!

A lung room is simply a central air source used in sealed rooms and are normally used when people are flipping between two rooms. Both rooms will share the same co2 burner, ac and dehumidifier to process the air for each room. It also keeps bulky equipment out of the grow space. Its a very simple concept. Just picture two grow rooms sandwiched between another room and connected via ducting.

As Cokeyo said, the primary reason to use a lung room is to reduce the amount of atmospheric control or controllers you need for your setup. It is simply a 3rd room where your main hub is situated in. This can be CO2 generator, dehumidifier etc... as long as your air circulation is high enough, and the two rooms are for the same purpose (not one veg and one bloom) this is a good option to reduce costs. Ideally you want to have air turnover minimum of 1 time every 3min. So you have to calculate cubic feet of your rooms, then match it with the correct inline fan/s combination. The reason you don't want one veg and one flower room with a lung room is because conditions (and CO2 specifically) are different for both rooms.

The only drawback to this is cross contamination of possible pests etc.. you may want to use a prefilter or shroom filter to prevent this.

BUT, for that to work you have to flip flop rooms. Otherwise there would be no benefit (such as requiring half the amount of a/c) what so ever besides your grow looking cleaner having your controls / controllers in another room.

So if you flip flop rooms, you would share the temps from different light cycles technically. I suppose one room would be a bit warmer from radiant heat with lights on.....but it seems it would be a pain in the ass if you wanted lights on 80f for instance and lights off 65f or something similar.

I dunno seems like a lot to dial in, and you can only dial it in so far. Could be wrong though....

I thought about a lung room, but never really got the point. I suppose that's why I've never seen one, and only hear about them here and there on the net.

All of my environmental controls(ac, dehumidifier, and controllers are in flower room with passive intakes to the veg room. In veg room I have 6" fan that pulls air from veg and back to flower. Works perfect and the veg plants now have co2 and love it.
