Im growing 2 plants and this is my first grow. I'm trying to yield at least 2 oz in all.(hopefully more) Im trying 2 different methods.

PLANT 1- I have this baby sitting in a fiber glass box about 3 1/2 ft tall 1 1/2 ft across and about 2 1/2 ft deep. i painted the sides with white paint. i have 4 23 watt cfls for now. This is the 40th day from seed and 24/0 hrs of light. I haven't used any Nutes yet and I'm using organic potting soil. Watering every 3-5 days. I took it out for a clearer picture

PLANT 2- Its sitting in a box with also 4 23 watt cfls. its about 2 ft tall 1ft wide and 1ft deep. I put foil around the sides of the box and on the bottom for a light reflector. its also 40 days old from seed.I topped her at day 25 and i was giving it 24/0 light until the 30th day and i start giving it 12/12 of light because i want to keep it short. Aslo no nutes.

QUESTIONS
Can you check my babies out and let me know how they're doing?
Do i need nutes,if so Where can i buy some cheap good nutes? (no plant store near me)
How can i make them grow faster?

PLEASE LEAVE ANYS TIPS OR COMMENTS THAT WILL HELP.

We'll, if I'm to be honest they look a little rough, but not terrible.

Yes, you need nutes, especially for your second plant pictured. It looks like it may be craving some nitrogen. You can find nutes anywhere online or at your closest Lowes or Home Depot.

Usually I would say you can't make a plant grow any faster than it does normally on its own. But, I highly suggest turning your lights off for at least 4 hours so that your plants can rest and grow as it normally would outside. More isn't always better, remember that when feeding nutes too. Hope that helps some, GL!

I use the Fox Farm trio (grow big, big bloom and, tiger bloom) but it's a little on the pricey side, it cost me about 50$. I'm not sure about other nute brands but, I do know there's a handful of people on here who use Miracle Gro nute with no problems. Check around the forum or even there's a nutrient section; they may be able to help you out more over there.

In my opinion, go organic. I just planted in roots organic soil and that will provide me with a base all the way through veg with only adding distilled or r/o tap water, no ph, no nutes. I plan on transferring to a supersoil mix for flower and supplementing with some basic compost teas once every couple of weeks. I'm new to growing but my experiences and needs have led me to believe that an organic, living soil, with an occasional tea is cheapest and easiest for the small scale grower. You will need an understanding of how the plant, soil amendments, fungi, and bacteria work in harmony for super clean, fast plant growth.

The stars recently aligned and I had 2 days off in a row. I spent those days reading and researching about organic soil growing and supersoils. When I transferred my small clone I had from a coco base and synthetic nutes, into the roots organic soil, it took off!

Good luck!

I now realize that I should read the entire post before commenting. I would look at making a sort of compost tea, and I stand by my support of the roots organic soil.

You couldn't write the first sentence without setting a goal for yield !!!

You want 2oz ? Yes?
If you're 2 weeks off harvest and the plants look like they're no where near 2oz, what will you do?

FORGET YEILD
Learn to keep a plant alive
Learn to make it grow
Learn to keep it healthy/

Yield will come as a natural by-product to good growing practice.

House and garden a & b or bio bizz which is my favorite and no need to ph the water with that one. You make them girls happyand they will take care of you in the end. Either way you can stay at about 40$ for what you need with either one of the lines. Good luck tho

So what should I do ? Would it be better if i just let plant 2 die and use all 9 23watts for plant 1? What nutes should I get? Should I repot my plant to a bigger pot for a bigger yield ? Give me ideas PLEASE. I don't want my babies t die and I want at least 2 oz to last until I beable able to start another grow .

Look into stuff like Bone meal and blood meal.

Lowes carrys plenty of ferts that will work. They have everything form miracle grow to organics. superthrive.

Just search the forum, read some peoples grow journals and see what they are using.

Research other companies chemicals and see thier ratings. IE - 6-4-4 ) Find some nuts at your local store that are close to those #s as well.

Honestly just reading a bunch of peoples grow journals can give you a great base idea on what you need to be doing. Just water and nothing else, wont yield much. Id also recommend at least 6-8 cfls on 1 plant.

Someone already suggested that you shouldn't set yourself yield targets for a first grow, and I think that's sound advice. It isn't to sound nasty, it's so that you concentrate on learning how to grow to determine how you can improve your technique on the next run, rather than focusing on something you may or may not achieve in 2-3 months. Yield, at this point, is irrelevant if the plants don't survive. Unfortunately, and just to put it to bed once and for all, you won't achieve even 1 oz dried, let alone 2. Forget that 'target' because it simply won't happen this time. I'm sorry. Digest that information for a second or two...

Great. Now we can move on and focus on nurturing your plants back to life, and taking note of mistakes made so you can avoid making them next time. That way, after a few grows, you might be able to set yourself more realistic yield targets based on your growing environment and techniques.

Is there perlite in your soil? This helps with drainage and allows some air to get to your roots - essential for soil growers. Exactly what soil are you using? Does it already contain any nutes at all? Are you pHing your water? Checking the pH of the run-off? What are the temperatures like in your grow space? Too hot/cold?

Do some research into Veg nutrient mixes for soil, and bloom mixes. There are plenty of premixed solutions to choose from, most can be ordered online, and for a set of veg and bloom nutes (which should last your a few grows) you'll probably need to spend between $25 and $50.

Plant 1 looks to me like it's being over fed (scorched tips, dark & droopy leaves.. trace nutes in soil?), and plant 2 looks nitrogen deficient to me (so it needs to be fed).

As someone else suggested, give them 6 hrs of darkness in every 24 hrs.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Everthing Sunny said!! Just try to get them to finish properly. My first grow was outdoors and didn't care what I got I just wanted to finish properly. I didnt even weight my harvest from either plant, because I was more concerned with curing, taste, and potency (bag seed so potency was limited). More than weight. If click my sig my first post I have pics of one of my harvested plants in the jar. I was very happy only because I didnt have this unrealistic goal on what production should be.

Now I've started a indoor cfl first time grow. My only goal is to finish them properly. Once I get all this down I will start buying seeds. Its a process and patient with research is the key Good luck Jack

Yes that helped a lot. I'm going to now focus on what I'm doing a little more instead of trying to settle for 2 oz. Your right, this is my first grow and i need to practice a lot more. But the soil that I'm using is just some cheap non organic potting soil. No nutes at all. And I'm not familiar with which nutes would be best for veg/flowering with this soil. do you have any in mind that would be fine with this soil?

guarentee that MG organic has some premixed light dose of nutes in that soil.

If its the organic choice garden soil it has 0.10 - 0.05 - 0.10
