Grow Room Info?

Hey there guys,I'm Mike, starting up in the forums and just had a few questions for ya. I've been searching all over the place and I can't seem to get any conclusive answers. Right now I'm starting up a Medical grow tent in my basement and just got everything finished up last night as far as prep work (Minus electrical work, which may or may not be done by me depending on the complexity.)

Ran some tests and had a temp problem in the dark period, which is common in basements I hear, but was easily adjusted with a 1500w space heater on a digital thermostat. Which leads me to my first question.

My basement currently runs two 120v circuits; one for lights, and the other for the receptacles. Lighting is minimal and probably wouldn't run more than 150 watts at a time. So would it be reasonable to put my 1000W ballast on the lighting circuit, and have it controlled by a lightswitch?

Also, what would be the safest way to connect JUST ONE 1000W to the circuit (e.g, a surge protector, straight to the outlet, any recommendations are nice, I plan to switch to two 600W in the next grow for better coverage and will end up using a high power relay, though I don't know much about them.

Now, running a 1500W heater is definitely too much power when you take into consideration pumps and aerators and lighting, so I assume I'll have to put in a new circuit for the basement to hold the wattage, even though the heater should remain in standby when temperatures are above the programmed temp?? I don't know any advice would be greatly appreciated guys.

Also, another question, ahah, I'm full of em.

I bought a Solis-Tek Steel Box Magnetic Ballast, (Which I can't even find online, uh oh, should have done research)
Which is powering a Hortilux MH bulb inside a Lumii 8" reflector. -----When I plug everything in, no matter what circuit I run it on, with everything else shut off, the bulb will flicker a couple times and eventually come on. Well last night I plugged my ballast in, and it wouldn't ignite. Does this sound like the bulb? the ballast? Idk. Im alittle weary on the ballast here.. Later I went back to it and tried it again, and it fired up. Anybody have some advice?
Can't wait to be apart of the forum! Thanks - Mike xLtdEspVx

My digital ballast flickers just a bit when it first comes on. But if you turn it off, it will have to wait about ten minutes for it to be able to ignite again. Was that what happened? Or will it just not ignite?

Yeah, It must have been that, thanks. still wondering if its safe to run on a normal house light switch though. Gotta double check the amperage of the circuit too.. I think its 15, but maybe 20. Lemme check. Thanks for the quick reply!

Idk about the light switch thing. There is a forum on here specifically about electricity try and find that. Search for "experienced electrician" I know that is the title of the thread

Contactors are used to safely control higher loads...do not use a light switch! In terms of adding the 1000 to the existing circuit...if it is a 15A breaker on a 14-2 conductor as a rule of thumb you don't want to exceed 80% of max load(.8x15). Solis teks are very reliable ballasts ...just outta curiosity...why didn't you buy an electronic solistek?

Hey thanks so much appreciate the help! and contactors? could you possibly give me an example? and the amperage isn't so much a worry here, Ill have all the other lights off except a small 40w work florescent. As far as the magnetic ballast goes, it was cheaper, and somebody at the grow shop personally recommended it to me.
