Just got home from the dispensary and I have a clone picked out that I will be buying on sunday. It's a querkle #6 plant and looks quite healthy. I have no experience with clones I hope all goes good I will post pictures of the clone when it gets here.

First off how old are they? 2 weeks they would be fine. 4 weeks not as good.

2nd plant looks like got a bit of heat damage.

Those are about 2 weeks old, yeah I agree heat burn this one plant that had that heat burn is very sensitive to everything. It first was curling from water then burning up from heat, it now is like half the size of the others but looks healthy.

There ya go. Two stresses, two setbacks, it's gonna be smaller at two weeks.

It'll grow through it and the difference will not be noticeable in a few weeks

:( yeah it sucks. I'm not a super experienced grower so I am still learning. Hopefully next time it will go better.

Hi Yoda,
Wondering what your humidity is running. Wintertime humidity tends to run low. Plants do better at medium RH...

John Dee your a genius .The humiifer I had was not turning itself back on with the timers because its a digital one and I have to push the button to turn it on after the power comes back on it was at 25% humidity.

Yoda,
Well actually they just looked dry. The leaf curling thing from low humidity is the plant trying to prevent further transpiration. Trying to preserve it's moisture. Otherwise, they look pretty good.

humidifier back on, going to hope this curling goes away, running full blast right now, what % should I be going for? 50-60% or is that too high?

Yoda,
I don't want to just spoon feed you a number. Humidity is a complex issue that deserves some study. But yes...for your plants at that stage 40% to 50% is good. Over 60% should be avoided except for seedlings and clones.

You want good ventilation and proper temp and humidity to allow optimal growth and to minimize mold risk.

thanks for your help JD you're awesome. My temp right now is 82F and stable , I have reduced from a very dangerous 88-90F by some crafty methods, and now its about 82-84F during day and 75-78F during night, current humidity is approx. 40%, will continue to monitor the humidity. This is my closet grow, also currently setting my grow tent up for my querkle clone, planning to keep that in a colder area probably my living room or by the front door. I have an air filter and fan + humidifier fan in the closet where these are. Any advice is great thanks for the help.

Yoda,
I never leave that much foliage on cuttings. Too much transpiration and risk of wilting. But everybody seems to have their own style...
Good luck,
JD

20$ for one clone, 3 clones for 50$, JD got a question if you would enlighten me please. The grower told me this clone was grown in 50/50 mixture of coco coir and perilite should I go buy some of these and create my soil like they did? OH and when the roots sprout do I remove the rock wool or what do I do just transplant it from this cup like cut it out dig a small hole and place in then water? Sorry if I am epic noob just trying to do this right.

Yoda,
I didn't realize this was a clone you had purchased rather then one you cloned yourself. It already has roots. No respectable dispensary would sell clones without roots.

You can plant it into whatever you are comfortable with. No need to match perfectly. No rush, but get your new pot ready with whatever you plan on using. Leave the rockwool in place...trying to remove will damage your plant.

So look at your pot you are going into and plan ahead. Fill it up enough so that when you put the clone and rootball in...top of old media will be about where you want it to be.

Sorry, never tried to describe this process.

Make sure your clone media is fairly dry when you remove it from cup. It'll stay together better...meaning no root damage.

OK, so now you have your clone in dry media. And new larger pot with some soil/media in the bottom. Just turn the clone cup upside down, one hand under to catch the rootball and give the bottom a little slap. The whole rootball should pop out into your hand.

Stick it in the new pot. Now all you need to do is fill in the sides gently. Water good and maybe before next watering, you may need to add a little more soil around perimeter because it compacts with watering.

Now here's a little freebie hint. An old grower like myself...BOG (Bushy Old Grower) wrote a book about his technique. When he transplanted...he overfilled the bottom just a bit so that the top of the rootball stuck up an inch or two. He claims this promoted aeration to roots. So once he was in the final pot...the soil looked like a wedding cake.

Please ask questions if I didn't make this clear.
Cheers,
JD
