yes, agreed.....mostly

his assertion about there being no difference in how the way plants grow under mh or hps is absurd IME

and he cannot show any data backing his claim.

and when I called him on it and demanded he show some proof backing his claims up, he proceeded to call me shit fer brains and quit responding

so I guess I win ;)

hell, even rollie came in and more or less said ben was wrong albeit tongue in cheek.

the thing is I really wasn't looking for a fight, just some evidence backing his claims. I mean if you are gonna refute common indoor growing techniques you should back it up right?

When he failed to give some evidence and started calling me names I compared him to finshaggy ( since they are both from texas and have great ideas) LOL

I think this pissed him off.

OK actual NTS:

Buy stock in a timer company, they have to be the cheapest pieces of crap. I've tried so many different brands of cheap ones, last time I figured ok I'll spend the 25 bucks and try an apollo maybe it really is better......... I think I got 2 months out of it, maybe 3. I fcking hate when my bloom timer fails.

Sooo Beech when you coming up to help me wire an independent circuit with a inline mechanical timer?

mech timers are THE ONLY way to go when it comes to hid.

they're pretty easy to wire....especially 120v..

220v a little more tricky but still not bad..most have a schematic on the cover.

I'm sure I could figure out the wiring but have never done anything as big as putting in a circuit so it kinda makes me nervous to be completely honest. Does 45 bucks seem fair for a mech timer?

Maybe a little cheap but sounds bout right to me. Make sure you get one with steel/metal gears.

i got a cheapo timex( i think it was) years ago, not knowing it had plastic gears.....yep, it was fucked after around a year.

intermatic makes good mech. timers. there are a couple of other brands too but their names ellude me @ the moment.

50-100bucks. is generally the range.

I like the 120/220 models..they can be wired either way but for you a straight 120v would probably be best if you are uneasy about the wiring.

pretty easy really. get one, take a photo of the schematic and one of us can walk you through it.....I would put it on a dedicated breaker though.

The dedicated breaker is actually the part I'm more concerned with. I was looking at a timer yesterday but don't remember the brand. It did have the metal gears, and looked easy to wire inside, 2 wires in, 2 wires out I think maybe 3 I don't remember now. It had 79 on the price tag, but the guy at the shop said he'd give it to me for 45 cus I'm in there alot and my apollo I bought there only lasted a couple months.

Maybe I'll start watching breaker install videos on Youtube and see how it looks.

easy peasy, shut the main off.

put a romex connector in a knockout on the box and timer. actually put several in the timer as you'll need them.

12 gauge romex.

two wires plus ground.... black from breaker, white and ground from neutral bar ...... run it to timer to it's respective terminals, add a couple outlets off timer.....done

happy happy happy :)

edit: and make sure all connections are tight. VERY IMPORTANT with any electrical.

tighten the screws move on to something else then come back and try and give em another 1/4 turn or so.

no timer worries from then on.

After watching the Top Gear episodes about various Veyrons, I must admit it wouldn't be the car for me. I'd be happier with a Koenigsegg or a just plain Lambo.

The veyrons are neat, but the Koenigsegg is fucking awesome. One of the special editions was flex fuel and was like 600 hp with regular gas, but if you filled the tank with e85 it automatically changed the fuel mapping and the car jumped like 300hp. I thought it was cool.
