Any Reefers?

Nice tank. Cool birdnest and blastos. I recently lost my little blastos when my nem went for a spin around the tank. I've had the hammer for 5 yrs now. Got it as a single dying head.
your trumpet looks real healthy. Never had one. Are those tubbs blues?

thanks, 3 gallon pico reef...I had a bunch of the corals in a quarantine tank for the longest time, and recently broke it down after a crash, so everything is going back into the little pico tank, and trying to bring those blastos back from the brink. Actually gonna head to the reef store right now to see if they have any nice frags, and maybe a tiny goby.

Lost the trumpet in the crash unfortunately. A powerstrip inadvertently got flipped off for a few days..Oh well, everything else I posted is current though. And I'm no sure if they're tubbs blues, I feel like the blue in he center isn't wide enough. But they're neat...just fragged that piece off my coworkers colony.

Tank crashes suks big effing balls. I lost a 180 due to a real bad case of Dino's triggering a massive die off of snails triggering the death of close to 12k in corals and fish. It happened real fast. Nothing I could do but cry.

Yeah, I got out of control for a while, had multiple reef tanks plumbed to one sump, frag/quarantine tank, handmade overflows, etc...Not I've just downsized everything back into the first little 3 gallon pico reeftank I ever bought. id you have fish an coral? Or just fish? I only have coral...Almot bought a little tiny fish yesterday, but he wouldn't eat frozen food at the store, so I didn't wanna buy a picky eater...but my girlfriend really liked the little guy...a clown goby.

i had coral for the first year, and like live rock , to build an ecosystem, than i got a clown fished and named him nemo obvi.
than i got a dory fish and dory did not like nemo at all. so dory had to go back to the story.
i had an anememie and it got too close to the filter thing and got sucked up so he was sad for the rest of his life cause some of his arms got taken off :(

Yeah, 'nems are notorious for goin on "powerhead rides", an turning the water column into anemone soup...Sorry to hear that. How big was the tank? Any reason you don't have it up any more? I love my 3 gallon reef, it's so easy. Anything more and I have to start devoting a real chunk of time to the hobby, and free time has been hard to come by lately.

I want a bad ass salt water tank but i dnt have time to maintain it
You don't have 15 minutes once a week? And maybe 2 or 3 minutes like two times a week? So like a total of 20 minutes a week, and you could have a little reef tank too. Once you get the tank up and running, and everything is good, it pretty much takes care of itself. With small tanks, a water change every week or two replenishes the calcium and other elements needs in th water column, and like 2 or 3 minutes once or twice a week to feed your corals. If you want fish, then it would need daily feeding/maintainance.

Yeah they say the hobby costs about a hundred dollars per gallon...lol...Unless you're a big DIY'er, like myself...But yeah, ever think about a little pico reef? 5 gallons or under? Easy to maintain, cheap to stock with rock and livestock(since you only need small frags, and a 3 gallon reef fills up fast!)
