Hi.
im starting a grow, and I have 4 cfls and a BIG 300w cfl. BUT my concern is that half of it is warm and the other half is cool light. Is this confusing my little ones or is it supposed to be like this, as I bought it off amazon, and was advertised as a "grow light"
Would be gratefull for advise.
Cheers dudes
Well its the cupboard under my stairs, and it's a test grow as its my 1st. I heard the hps are a terrible farce and can explode.
Totally grateful for your response but don't. Know how to give recognition for it ??
It is all good , Now that I have some time I can go into more depth for your questions. Usually cfl lights are between 2000k and 6500k spectrum. Warm is around 2700k which is good for flowering, cool as far as I know is around 4100k which is good for vegetative growth, It is common practice to use a mixture of bulbs during the entire grow to facilitate both vegetative and flowering cycles of cannabis plants. Your plants will be getting the proper spectrum of both for both cycles, It is actually ideal to run this way. Also being a 1st or "test" grow it is more then fine to run cfl's, It is what I "cut my teeth with" and ran several successful cycles with . The down side is that cfl lights do not provide the penetration that high intensity discharge "hid" give and thus they must be as close as possible to the plants as they can get without burning the plants. I have never heard of a HID blowing up unless you spray it with water or drop it while it is hot, Then they can be a little grenade and throw glass shrapnel everywhere , I have never seen or known of anyone ever having one do that without doing one of the for-mentioned things to one.
The down side of a cfl lighting is that the finished product can be airy or leafy and generally not very dense. But I have seen some respectable products from them, The grower's are usually experienced but dont let that dishearten you . But being a new grower If you can get anything out of it then your doing very well. Most new grower's do not get to reap the bounty of a 1st harvest for several runs due to errors . I would run them and not worry about hid lighting until your ready for them, You will know when your ready for upgrades. If you need any advise then please do not hesitate to ask me or the members here , Most of them are here to help you and will. The way to give recognition for an answer you like is to "like" the post or give "rep" to the person giving you help , to like a post there is a "like" on the right bottom of the post, To give rep there is a little star on the left bottom side of the post. Just give them a click, It is not required but is always appreciated by all of the members here.
If you can or want to provide a little more info I could help you more, What type of grow is it? Hydroponic , Soil? if soil what size pot are they in? what is the strain? Is it auto flowering or photo period ? What kind of nutrients are u planning on using? It is also said a photo is worth a thousand words, This is extremely true here too.The best of luck to you
