Stretch......or more accurately....percentage of stretch has a lot to do with the strain. I like the stretch of an indica in many cases, but can see how someone would want to curb stretch with a leggy sativa.

I grow primarily indica-dom plants and a bulk of the yield comes from the branches and colas that stretched. For me...more stretch...more yield.

I run at the same time both a MH and HPS during the entire bloom period.

I have been running two 400w MH/HPS lamps through bloom, but this time I am probably going to run both HPS when stretch is done... up until the last week or two of ripening... then I might hit them with both MHs. I always run new strains from seed so I can't really compare results, but we'll see.

I run my 600 MH for the first 2 weeks, my 600 mh400 Hps weeks 2-4, 600hps+600hps weeks 4-6, 600 hps+400mh weeks 6-8 and 600 mh to finish. Its probably just a placebo effect cuz im changing stuff but thats what works for me.

All that is fine and good if you're growing all your plants in the same cycle. I have a semi-perpetual grow and all the plants get the same light.

Yep, didnt say it was practical, for me its fine cuz my location frowns on grow houses and if I get popped with 5 im fucked. So for me to have 4 plants in a tent with 2 digital 600s n switch bulbs is no big deal. Hell I dunno if it even helps but I think it does.lol

Lol, im with ya, thats why I said I dunno if it helps, I have enough light that it doesnt hurt. My placebo is engineered for me, nobody else.lol I will say that starting flower with MH and heavy N nutes will produce a better plant than a plant started with hps and heavy P nutes. Thats not a placebo

See my sig line and then get educated. HPS contains the blue spectrum and MH contains the red. Both will raise cannabis. I know from experience. Your plants don't care. You and the hydro salesman do.

The hydro salesman seeing you coming as just another sucker bet will have you believe otherwise as he loads you up with conversion lamps, one of this and one of that.

Where guys like you go wrong is chasing down your source of information in cannabis forums....then comes the "aw shits" when you find out you pissed off your time "looking for love in all the wrong places...searching for love in too many faces....."

Don't get me wrong, I do too but it has nothing to do with a lamp's spectrum. Has to do with convenience and power savings. I used to start seedlings using 4' fluor tubes. It was a PITA trying to keep the tubes right on the upper leaves and then I'd have half ready to go under a HID and the other half still bathing in fluors. Being a simple man I decided I wanted something more convenient and considering that my garden's footprint is flexible (can expand or contract the sidewalls as the garden dictates) the 400W MH came in handy. the only "scientific" evidence I have is when I vegged w/hps and mh. The hps were leggy bitches and the mh were short and tight. Same strain etc.

Also the fact that like every grow book out there says mh promotes short stocky growth and also higher resin production. While hps is a fuzz brighter, promotes bulky flowers and lengthy growth.

Ever grow hps/mh side by side?

The difference in how the plants grow is obvious.
