hello im having bigtime issues i am growing in coco 19 liter pots im having clay pebbles in the bottom as a drainage. They are in 3 week veg im having runoff issues.Im putting in 5.5ph water in the pots the runoff befofore i put the 5.5 water is 6.9 very high i know. I have flushed it with aprox 25 liter and the runoff is strange when its overflowing the drainage system (clay pebbles) its around 6.2 when i messure it (Adwa ph) but when im getting to the last drips of the run of its 6.9 7.0 im thinking it can be the clay pebbles. I did just run them in a bag with holes in the shower for about 2 Hours thinking that would be enought before putting them in 3 weeks ago. What am i suppose to do should i remove the pebbles somehow or what? / Flodas

the clay in the mix is probably causing the ph to climb back up. Vinegar and lemon juice are both natural ph down. Some coco also has high levels of salt. Did you rinse the coco before using it? well I guess its rinsed now any way. Clay has a high ph, it is very alkaline. you could either remove it with out doing damage to the root system or use some type of acid with each watering to lower the ph.

Put a few pebbles in a small glass of water and let it sit for at least 4+ hrs mixing it all around every 30 min. or so. Test the water. This is most likely why it keeps climbing back to unhealthy levels.

If you have a mix that has a strong fungal growth, this will also cause the ph to climb. but usually takes a lot longer than 3 weeks. bacteria like azos will help combat the high ph and bring it down a bit.

i have grown mango haze in soil 6 moths ago. But this is a bit harder. I removed the clay pebbles in the bottom and pushed some in in the draining holes in the bottom and sides after the coco and plant is in position but i lose a bit of my medium. The ph is now aprox 6 - 6.1 that will probably fix it. thank you
