i am extremely new, as i just got medical aproval. it is my first grow and i beleive one of my three plants is having issues. The three things about this plant that differ from the other two are.

The leaves seems to droop slightly and curl downward

The edges of the older leaves are much more bright green, the bright green goes up toward the vein

and finally a few of the leaves have yellow and red spots on them.

I am not sure what the issue is(even if there is one, on the first two problems expecially). the strain the trainwreck(its the onyl one of the three that is)

Thanks so much in advance

It could be a few things, such as over watering, nutes, poor air circulation, but I'm guessing calcium/magnesium deficiency, what is your water source?
Dr. Jekyll

Bottom line, you have not provided enough details for us to provide an accurate suggestion, plus a pic of the entire plant and the grow room would really help

also check your heat , make sure it doesn't get over 85 , preferablly 72 to 80 degrees , also make sure your plants get enough wind from a fan so that you can see the leaves moving.

first, thanks for such a quick reply.

air circulation could be an issue, its in my closet and i only have one fan going in there, i am going to make a grow chamber in the next few weeks(to contain smell/ save me a closet door), so theres no really intake/outake. just leaving the door open. the temps are fine, 21 night, 25 day, celcius. and althought im new i suspect im watering correctly, i read alot about over watering, and am checking the soil 2 inches under surface before i water.(Seperate question: how do i do this without damaging roots, i am always scared to do this).

I am using mostly organics, as i read it is harder to nut burn and is more or less fool proof. i am using a potting mix made with peat moss, that has horticulrual lime added. Other than that i have given them no calcium. I have been using an 10-2-12 organic fert made from fish for grow, with humecca made from same company, and following dosage as intrsucted.

the plant is a little over 3 weeks old, and despite these "issues" it is the largest of the three. i will post a full pic of the plant when i get home.

Thanks.

EDIT: I use tap water that has been sitting out for 24 hours to get chlorine out, I plan to add another fan, and two inline fans(one intake, one out) when i build my grow box, the ferts name is Ocean grow green gold, it was recconmended to me at my local hydro store.

I'll cast my vote with the rabbit on overwatering. Specks on leaves could be lack of Ca from the overwatering, or nothing at all.

Specks form naturally from nothing at all? without any deficiencies whatsoever? i was under the impression everything ment something, heh . lol

by the way seems like an amazing community.

Nothing at all as in first fix your watering problem and they will probably go away. Every plant I've ever grown has had small spots, blemishes, discolorations if you look hard enough. But overall they are green and healthy.

Intake/outtake air circulation is important so maybe an extra fan to push/pull in fresh air may help, but your temps seem okay.
I use the weight of the plant to determine when to water, just wait until it's feather light; I don't like finger poking.
If your tap water is soft, you may need a Cal-Mag supplement but I'm starting to think AimAim and the rabbit are likely right about the over watering
Dr. Jekyll

When did you start using your nutes/fert, how often are you using them and at what strength?
You haven't mentioned what light source you are using?
Personally I don't buy into that 24 hour chlorine ritual, but do as you like.
BTW: don't be shy with the extra pics

its strange though, if it were over watering wouldnt the other two plants be effected? Do different plants/strains really differ that much in how much they drink/how they react? This is the only plant with the blemishes, and the edges turning lime green.

Im using cfl bulbs, i have had the plants about 1 an inch of the bulb as it grows, i read that unless the cfls are touching the plant, the heat is very tolerable. I have only had 4 bulbs on for 3 three plants, but have others to turn on as they grow. the 4 i currently use are 6300k for veg, but when i turn more on i will add 2 2700 to give a differnt spectrum.

I began giving the ferts second feeding, i had bought relativerly cheap potting soil (9.00), and the guy at the hydro store told me to start giving it. Also, the packaging has a dosage for seedlings. My tap water is hard, it has a ph of about 8, when it comes out.

It could be just the first one to show the signs, the others are likely to follow suit.
Trust us on the over-watering and let it get good and dry before watering again.
Dr. Jekyll

I think you started nutes too soon as typically most wait 3 or 4 weeks then use 1/4 strength and work up.
You should not use nutes every watering, more like every 2 or 3rd.
Your pH is very high, I sure hope you are bringing it down to about 6.5
If your water is hard, then unlikely you need Cal-Mag

Edit: the last picture that was attached is of the third plant, everything is normal except the two lowest leaves yellowing( im assuing thats just cuz of lack of light, gonna try to get some side light in)

thanks for all the imput, i will definetaly wait till they are asking for it before i water next. I was wondering about the soil, when i bought the soil/ nutes at the hydro shop, the guy told me i could start ferting right away, and not to be worried about nute burn with these organics. but i will hold off the nutes as well for a little while.

Seperate question, i have tried researching but everyone says something different.. When is it good to do your first pinching, do only flowers benefit from the thicker stalks, or will the plant grow better if i pinched the main stem at some point.

Thanks, Jael

pinching or topping will distribute the hormones in the plant from the top into the side branches making them bushy. Basically you get more bud sites. This is the advantage of vegging longer is you get more branches (bud sites). if you top her above the 3rd node you will get 2-4 main branches (cola's).

oh, i have seen a few people refer to pinching as like, pinching during supercropping, but without the bend. So the branch gets thicker or develops that elbow. Also heard that this makes strong nutrient flow to that branch. Again, im very new, correct me if any of this information is wrong. When would one start doing this? (I didnt know pinching was used as a synonym for topping)

I would pinch/top one of them. Let one of those ladies be the guinea pig...
*Nothing beats hands on experience*

Also, they are looking pretty good for your first grow. Stay vigilant, and keep on growing brother

Try maybe lighting up on the watering, and just making sure water is always nicely ph'd. And just give them clean water for the week without nutes. But something tells me your ladies are gonna be fine. I'm still on my first run, and I somehow tormented my ladies at 3-4 weeks, and almost lost them. After the month marker, they get much less fragile.

Hey Jael,

Am new to growing weed, did some runs and currently growing outdoor. So don't take my word for it, but here's what I think.

1. The watering schedule depends on various things. What I did after a hell lot of reading is that I cut down the watering of my plants, I stopped giving them water. My climate here is very moist and I was giving them too much water. Let the soil be dry till the next time you water. Don't worry about your plant, when you give water they will bounce back. How's your humidity? Do you have control over it?

2. When you water them do you get a run-off? Excess water should drain from the pot. The roots need to breathe and fresh water in the soil is essential. Water collected in the soil is useless after depletion of the oxygen in them. So do check the drainage.

3. Just use plain water, if it's chlorinated; keep for an hour or so before you water.

4. If plain water and decent drainage doesnt do the trick, add some Pseudomonas flourescence(Bio-control) to the pot. From my experience I noticed my plants dying from over watering and as a result root rot. Pseudomonas is a great bacteria which shields your root and leaves from rot as well as bacterial attacks.

5. If it's a nutrient deficiency I never had any and I can't be of any help, sorry.

The grow looks healthy otherwise.

Good luck with your grow mate!

If any of the things I said is wrong, experienced growers please do correct me. I have only stated what I have observed from my experience and reads.

Peace and Love,

Toker.

when you start to flower I wouldn't let the pot dry out too much. Read up on ( CEC ) exchange and you will understand why. Also pH fluctuates in your soil is too wet or too dry. More so when it dries. When your plants fill out the pot and can actually use the H20 and Nutrients, over watering is less of a concern. CEC is Cation Exchange Capacity. Its more for soil grows.
