Hey guys it is my first grow, i was told that my plant is ready for harvest, my wife and i wanted the plant to be a bit more calming. I was wondering, usually how long i should wait to let them turn amber? Ps. Does the 48 hours of darkness before harvest do anything?

I have a 60x jewelers loop but it's still really difficult to see if the trichomes are clear or milky. Do the trichs get bigger with time or are they genetically very small for some strains? I have 2 Dinafem criticals about 3-4 weeks into flower covered in crystals, but still very small and hard...
