Yellowing leaf tips on seedlings.

Hey guys. I’ve got some yellowing happening on my leaf tips of this 2 week old seedling.
dwc system ph has never varied past 5.7-5.9
The cotyledons were deformed and yellow from the start so I gave it first nutes at week 1 very small 1/32 dose which brought me to 220 ppm minus 50 ppm tap water that was left to sit for 24h prior.
today at week 2 I just did my first water change on this plant and bumped nutes to 300 ppm ( 2 part Veg stage nutes + calmag)
It’s under a 315w CMH (630 actual watts)
3x3 tent
2 airlines and air stones
400 cfm fan out and 100cfm air in
Temps are 78-81
And humidity is low at around 25%
I’ve had 2 successful grows i guess I was lucky never really had any leaf problems.

edit: the only issue I’ve had was a heat spike at week 1 from having this new light too close. Could this just be a little heat burn ? The new node coming out seems to have some discolouration but it’s hard to tell

Im assuming you havent got any roots coming out of the netpot and into the water...if so how are you watering?
TBH if you hadnt said the leaves are yellowing I wouldnt have noticed anything myself.

doesnt look too bad, leave it alone for a few days and see where it goes

thanks guys. No I germ straight in my reservoir and keep water level an inch or two under rock wool and let the roots lower with the water level. The amount of air I pump in seems to create enough of an aeroponics system almost keeping the seedlings happy until they touch down then I do the classic 2 inches under net pot... so I’m probably over thinking the yellow tips?

Sounds like more work but a solid way of doing it. That would be my answer to that question I saw u asked in another post. Its just more work to worry about any of that when I can just leave it in the cloner until its got 6-8" of roots.

but yes, they look fine. Leave them for a few days and check back if it gets noticeably worse.

Thanks! It’s sort of just the way that I started and got used to I guess and Almost second guessed when reading that thread about waiting so long. I simply just don’t have a cloner

No still no roots through the pot I’ve always just relied on the air stones throwing up enough bubbles and moisture to keep them happy. My water level starts 2 inches under rock wool and I let the water and roots descend together. When doing my water change yesterday I did raise the level back up a bit because I was worried it might have gotten too far away from the roots. So right now at 2 weeks the water level is back up to 2 inches below rockwool just in case that was why they were yellowing.

You can DIY a cheap one in a small tote or bucket for around $20-30, theyre a really useful tool with hydro.
I tried straight into the system at first and eventually got away from it mostly because it felt like a waste of water in the big systems. Been playing with seeds right into the cloner instead of growing them out in rooters or trays and its going well. Been documenting them along with my grow if you wanna check them out.

Fragile back at it. DIY RDWC with the things.

Put a pvc 4 way on the pole. 1 side holds the fan. Other side, put a cap on it and thread a knob head bolt into it. If you size everything right you can just tighten the knob to clamp the 4 way to the pole. I've had some pretty strong threads in PVC caps on other projects, I think it could work.

Alright well atleast I’m not too crazy for doing it this way. Thanks for the help. I’ll post an update in a week or so and we’ll see how she goes! I’m not running any kind of hydro guard yet. Do you run it full cycle or only later on?

Here’s some pictures from today. New growth looks nice. I’m wondering if I should be top feeding until roots hit Rez. Does it look under watered or over watered to you ?the first set of 3 blade leaves looks a little droopy. I’ve never had a plant take this long to show roots.

Itll take it a few days to snake down through the hydroton. One downside of any method that keeps the bottom of the pot wet is the roots will spread out through the hydroton sideways first if there is water available. Itll probably take a few more days to see much poke out in a 6" pot

Top feeding can be counterproductive if the seedling is in a rockwool cube or rooter. If you water too close, it can cause too much moisture to soak your cube and it can rot the stem.

As long as you know theres water at the roots itll keep going, the part youre at now is my least favorite part and why I opt to leave them longer before transplant into 6" pots.

So here we are at week 3 veg I just did a water change, new growth color looks good except for one of the lower internodes that is a bit yellow. And the leaves are quite droopy. What do you think ? The 5th node is on its way out and I want to top it in a day or two.
