Would you have a problem with this kindergarten teacher?

I'm a pretty open minded person. But I just don't think this guy is the number one draft choice for teaching 5 year olds in their first exposure to public schools.

I want them to learn how to spell c-a-t and d-o-g. Not scream like they're in a horror movie.

He sure doesn't remind me of Mrs. Logero who I had a thing for at age 5.

If someone would have a 'thing' for this dude, how would they turn out at age 18 or 21?

Am I just too up tight?

I'd pull my kids out of his class. Bottomline he is a huge distraction and kids have a hard enough time staying focused.

I'm a horrible parent. I say GREAT kindergarten teacher. Then again I'm starting to warm up to smoking some weed that literally made me think I was having a stroke, again! Possibly cooler, more normal heads, will prevail.

Is there a picture of him in clothes? Teaching?
On one hand this teaches acceptance. If he's got a constant growl on his face that might not work

I have my kid in K this year, I wouldn’t care if he didn’t care, he might get creeped out over the eyes but I doubt he would care. As long as people are nice he enjoys there company. He knows what tattoos are too which would help. I can see some parents having a shit fit, but they prob lose there shit over anything they can too.

These are 4 and 5 year olds though lol, I mean I would but all the Karen’s and chads would chase me.

No problem whatsoever.

I like to think that my child won't be raised in such a way as to feel that a design (floral in this case) on someone's face, is something to be feared or looked down on in any way.
I'm not a parent though. Just my 2 cents.

how much or how long a distraction, not long with 5yr olds, give em a day to ask all there questions and giggle and its down to teaching

Maybe it’s my age and upbringing, but not for my little one. Interesting tattoos though.

I obviously am not as tolerant as I thought judging from the rest of your comments. Idk. I really struggle with this and almost feel uncomfortable admitting it.

I didn’t read the link so I’m taking this at face value. I know I’m judging a book by its cover, but no... couldn’t do it.

Handicapped people have enough obstacles and discrimination to jump through to find work. They didn’t choose their situation. This gentleman put this on himself, he chose this. If he didn’t consider that this could be a problem, maybe he’s not smart enough to teach kindergarten.

And then there’s the possibility he knew full well he’d get attention to this, and that’s what it’s all about. And that’s what I’m thinking has happened here. He obviously is an attention seeker.

I’d really like to revisit how things turn out for this teacher in 5-10.

That’s the beauty of the world though, we have a choice. He made his, and I can make mine.

I don't think this person must necessarily be unintelligent or seeking attention. Perhaps the tattoos have a deep personal meaning of some kind.
For example, I have shoulder length hair. Many of my friends & family will stop me daily-weekly to tell me how horrendous and unprofessional long hair on a man is..how they get that I want to be rebellious and prove some point but I'm just not doing myself any favors.
My hair is well kept, held back by a bandana or in a ponytail and is in my opinion one of my best features. I am an introvert by every definition and would love nothing more than to be ignored as much as possible. On top of that, I only grow my hair as long as I do (~14") to donate to children with cancer.

I'm losing focus now but hopefully you get my point.

My question is why did he get the tattoos if he wanted to become a kindergarten teacher? That not only seems to indicate poor judgement on his behalf, but also potential mental instability. That's at least two strikes, I'd have zero qualms transferring my kid into Mrs. Peabody's class.

Ah, the French. The article is unfair and doesn't tell the entire story. This dude ate a child that was misbehaving in his class. Unhinged his jaw and ate him whole, like a snake. His classes also had the highest attendance and test scores... by far. I feel that eating a child to scare the rest into submission is a small price to pay for academic excellence. It is a competitive world out there and our children need to be ready. The ones that don't get eaten, anyway...

Totally get your point man, and thank you for not attacking me. I can't help how I feel, but I can also try to understand how he feels. Like I said, never read the article.. just taking him at face value. Judging him as most of the world would, just by his appearance and not his character.

The reason I did that is because I know that is how most would judge him. I'm high functioning on the spectrum, and have found I analyze things differently than most... and analyzing this situation the way the majority would do it seemed logical to me.

I struggled with this, my mind screamed "NO" but I also understand I am basing my judgement on limited information.

Viewing it in another way, removing all personal biases and not judging him by his appearance allows me to believe a firm "YES" that he should be free to teach without any sort of judgement on his character.

Kind of like a piss test, I rather be judged by my character and performance than the contents of my urine.

So, to balance this situation in my mind to satisfy both answers, and to be a decent human being I have to say he is welcome to teach, just not my child. Hope that makes sense.

I can say it would be very interesting to speak with this gentleman face to face and hear his story and ask him some questions. It makes me wonder how my thoughts would change about this situation.

I have trouble with people and expressing myself sometimes in a way that doesn't rub people the wrong way because of the many ways I look at things. It's taken me years of practice to understand "social grace".

I've also donated my hair, and agree ...
