Would this work for a closet grow instead of an air conditioner?

I might have trouble keeping temps below 90 in my closet grow, and seeing as it is fast approaching winter, humidity levels will decrease, I was wondering if this unit would work effectively to both lower temps and raise humidity?

The closet has no exhaust other than the doorway, and the area is approximately 7' (L) x 5' (w) x 9' (H)

why not make a panda poly door and use a exhaust fan?

I'm now using a 600w MH/HPS, and the temperature quoted above (actually 85-93 f) was attained with a 400w HPS last round.

That's an Idea I haven't thought of - thanks! I have a large sheet left over I could use, and some heavy-duty velcro

That unit is problematic.

Yes, in winter time humidity levels tend to decrease, but not in otherwise sealed grow rooms, which tend to have high humidity due to water evaporation and plant transpiration.

Have you checked your grow space humidity already? I suspect its pretty high.

Those evaporative coolers only work in dry air, and even then they have a limited amount of cooling they can do. I think if you put one in a sealed closet, you'd quickly get super high humidity levels and be at high risk for bud rot.

Figure out a way to vent your closet instead.

Incidentally, 90F isn't optimal, obviously, and you don't want to go higher than that if you can help it, but most plants will still grow OK at that temp, just not as well as they would at 75-80F.
