Hey guys I recently germinated 6 seeds its been about two days and 2 or 3 have sprouted but I have a question.

I want to get the plants started indoors and move them outside after about 2-3 weeks.
My question is would one 120v/60Hz CFL light be good enough light to support the plants for two weeks until i move them outdoors

BTW the lightbulb looks like this http://www.21st-century-citizen.com/450px-Curly3.jpg

The brand name is Luminus.

Thanks guys:bigjoint:

yes, its possible to grow it with just 1 CFL for the first 2 weeks or so. What you need to look for is the amount of watts it takes (not the amount of watts it is advertised to put out compared to an incandescent, which is going to be advertised all over the package). This should be around at least 20w or so. I've seen some CFL's even as high as 42w. The higher the better. Another aspect of this is to get the right color of the light spectrum. On the base of a CFL Bulb (where you hold it), it will say something like 2600k or 5000k. This number needs to be around 6500k, although 5000k also works. These lights are usually called daylight lights because they shine bright white (not orange or anything). The light you hyperlinked to looks like a 2600k light because I see that it is orange. This is not the right spectrum for this early on in the growing process- it will be after about 4 weeks depending on how ur plants are doing, but you shouldn't be using CFL's by that time. You will need something that puts out a lot more light like a 400w HPS.
