so after i made my first order with attitude after reading all the positive responses from everyone here. i had the seeds sent to an address other than my own. but i did use my credit card...

i get home today and i have 2 letters in the mail from guess who? U.S. Dept of Justice Federal Bureau of Investigation.... after my heart stopped pounding (oh wait it still is) i open the letters, and this is what they say...

Your name was referred to the FBI's Victim Assistance Program as being a possible victim of a federal crime. We appreciate your assistance and cooperation while we are investigating this case. We would like to make you aware of the process throughout the investigation. Our program is part of the FBI's effort to ensure the victims are treated with respect and are provided information about their rights under federal law. These rights include notification of the status of the case. The enclosed brochures provide information about the FBI's victim assistance program, blah blah blah..

This case is currently under investigation. This can be a lengthy process and we request your continued patience while we conduct a thorough investigation.

We will make our best efforts to ensure you are accorded the rights described. Most of these rights pertain to events occurring after the arrest or indictment of an individual for the crime, and it will become the responsibility of the prosecuting United States Attorney's Office to ensure you are accorded those rights. You may also seek the advice of a private attorney with respect to these rights.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the Minneapolis Division learned via confidential sources that your credit card(s) may have been compromised in the recent past. In an effort to track offenders, it is important that we garner all available information regarding subject behavior. To that end, we seek your assistance in resolution of this case. The last four digits of the relevant credit card(s) appear on the reference line of this letter. It is suggested that you follow these steps below to prevent any future fraudulent activity:

Step 1: Contact your financial institution to determine if any suspicious activity has occurred with respect to your account(s). It may be necessary to close your credit card account and reopen a new one.

Step 2: Contact the 3 major credit card bureaus to request that a "fraud alert" be placed on your credit file.

Step 3: Upon receipt of this letter, file a report with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) within 60 days. Utilize this address, user identifier, and password as listed here.

Please report all related fraudulent activity on the site detailed. Note: The website will not ask for your credit card number, but will need your name, address, and email address to be able to keep track of the financial losses that each victim incurred. Due to the large number of victims in this matter, this will be the only mailing. Please check the Victim Notification Division of the FBI or to the Victim Notification Call Center.

Note - your local FBI office will not have any pertinent details regarding this investigation, and will either refer you to the Minneapolis Division of the FBI or the Victim Notification Center.
ok, so after placing an order with attitude around 3 weeks ago this is the first ever letter like this that i have received. i looked online at my bank records and i didn't see anything that i didn't purchase recently on there.

i am just a little worried that somehow i got tangled up into something by ordering my seeds (even though i know everyone has said such good things about attitude)

should i be worried? what should i do?

Does it refer to your credit card? Cancel that card.

Don't worry about the seeds being involved, they're just investigating a credit card fraud thing and could care less about the seeds.

I don't know jack about that site, just giving general advice on this topic which has happened to me except not in a seed purchase.

Dont grow! If u get the seeds toss em or give em to a friend. If i got a letter from the FBI i would shit my pants on the spot. I would think its too hot to pursue a grow at this point. Its the god damn Feds man! the absolute last people a pot grower wants to hear from. Id rather get a knock on my door from Judge Sculleigha him self.

so did the seeds show up at the other house or what?

Either way, this has nothing to do with you ordering seeds, its because the address and credit card don't match and you're credit card company has an automatic fraud alert system. If the seeds did arrive, call your credit card company and let them know the charge isn't fraudulent and you were just buying for a friend. Don't panic. Nobody is doing jail time for ordering a few seeds online.

Edit: After reading the letter again, what probably happened is that the address you sent the seeds to is currently under investigation. They're in the system. When your credit card number popped up with their address, the FBI system automatically sent you a letter telling you that you might be a victim of fraud. You're fine, but don't send anything to that address again. And tell your buddy he's probably being investigated right now.

sorry to hear about your scare..but I don't think you are going to be in any trouble...just hold on to the seeds for a while and see what happens...just don't grow them until it all pans out..if you receive the seeds then you will know that they didn't cease them of course and probably cant pin point any evidence to you..like the others have said..just an automatic letter cause the address confusion..probably cause it was an order overseas

i would deff.not grow in house or around me for a lil while...IF indeed they are talkin about seeds they could be like oh this guys ordering seeds, he must be growing, and then boom...raid. But then it could just be some bs. Id cancel card and if they come at you say that shit was stolen thats why you canceled it.

If you paid with a credit card and it's been 3 weeks you're probably not getting your seeds anyway. I'd call my credit card company and dispute the charge. That way you would get your money back AND you would be covering your ass. I'd chill on the grow for about 90 days. At that point if everything was cool I'd order from a different seed company on a different card and a different address. Good Luck.

I have not recieved one of these letters. However, after placing an order with a credit card from an unnamed company in Europe for hobby supplies I had some strange activity on my card. Luckily my creditor monitors strange transactions and calls me; preventing the use of the card until they talk to me. Long story short: I had several smallish charges ($2.62, $3.51, etc) on my card from Paris, Italy, Greece, and even North Carolina. I denied the charges and had the company send me a new card with a new number. This occured over 2 months after ordering see...hobby supplies. I wouldn't be surpised if it's the old charge (steal) small amounts, many times, from many diff people scam. I don't think the seed company(ies) are the theifs, but I wouldn't be surprised if their database security standards are drastically lower than Walmart's.

dude, you're fine. You confirmed what I already thought. The seeds arrived. All that happened was your billing address didn't match your shipping address. It has nothing to do with weeds or seeds. Don't change your card, thats just going to make you look bad. Call your bank and tell them it wasn't a fraudulent charge or they are going to wonder why you completely ignored a warning letter from the FBI.

Don't pay with a atm/credit card in the first place. Send money orders or cash to reputable vendors. Way too easy for other stuff to be monitored. It takes maybe 5-7 days extra to mail the payment and is well worth the security.

i totally agree. the only reason i just didn't get a prepaid visa card was just the pure inconvenience factor, which now i realize is absolutely not an inconvenience at all.

who knows, maybe this letter from the FBI isn't even about this transaction but damn if it doesn't have me worried about stuff... :?:

I disagree completely. I would never think of paying for seeds any way other than a credit card. If I don't get them I want my money back. There's no law against buying T-shirts.

Also, I just got my seeds from Attitude today also! Can't wait to grow this g13 haze ak48 and hindu kush in hempy buckets! woohoo!
